Essential Winter Blog Props

Hey there !

Remember me? It’s been a while hasn’t it! Apologies about the MASSIVE break in my posts … I’ve just felt so uninspired recently which is very unlike me… especially at this time of year when there is so much festive inspo flying around ! I’ve just been SO out of the loop… BUT I am glad to be sat down writing up a post for you all.

So.. how have you all been? I’ve just been SO busy settling into my new job and trying to get back into the swing of blogging. If you didn’t already know.. I recently brought the ever so dreamy Olympus Pen camera.. which of course meant that I spent the majority of my weekend having the biggest blog photo session ever. I also spent my Saturday morning trawling the shops looking for some winter blog props… and then I thought to myself that would be such a fab idea for a post!

Now.. blog props for me are something that is so essential if you really want to up your photo game .. they just make your photos look so much more interesting and you can really show your personality through them too! So guys .. I have a whole load of things that you can go out and find that will make your photos look perfect for winter and also add that special festive touch!

Blankets

We all know blankets are an essential when it comes to winter time (who doesn’t love to snuggle in one after a long day!).. so why not incorporate that into your blog too? I find grey, white or cream blankets are perfect for this time of year to use as a backdrop and just to add some “texture” to your photos (if that makes sense!). Mine is actually a £4 one from Primark… but you can definitely go all out and pick up a fluffy one too. I think they look adorable and give a real cosy vibe to your pictures!

Fairy Lights

What even was my life without fairy lights? I can’t believe that I ever used to take photos without fairy lights! They instantly make your photos look amazing and so so cosy! I picked up some adorable red ones from Home Bargains and they are SO festive! They also jingle .. but that wouldn’t be very effective in a blogpost, ha. Seriously though, get yourself some… they really make all the difference.

Candles

Ahhhh candles. I’m obsessed with candles anyway so it was only obvious I picked up some wintery ones to go in my photos. Check out Home Bargains or B&M for some adorable, festive ones… and they can work either lit or just as a prop in a flatlay… either way looks faaaaabulous. Also .. HOW CUTE is the one shaped like a Christmas tree! I doubt I will ever actually burn it because I don’t want to ruin the beautiful shape it has.. but it definitely looks adorable in the background.

Mugs

I’ve become a little bit obsessed with mugs recently and thought they would look so cute as props! I feel like they add such a homey, comfortable feel to your photos, and there are so many festive ones that just add something special to your photos! The Christmassy one is from Home Bargains, and the kitten one (although not vey festive by frickin’ adorable) is from the Velvet Ghost range in Primark by the stunning Gabby… and when I saw it was only £2… I HAD to have it.

Zoella Range

Let’s be honest guys… all of the Zoella beauty/lifestyle range is absolutely beautiful and SO instagrammable! I am in LOVE with the gingerbread body mist/cream… and they look so adorable as props, especially as they are SO festive. In fact, any perfume bottle can be added to your photos and look gorgeous!

Pinecones/Berries/Wreaths & Room Sprays

All of the above just scream Christmas & winter to me.. and adding them to your photos instantly makes them look SO winter ready. They are so affordable yet add so much to your images .. definitely worth picking up! I got my mini wreath thing from Home Bargains & the pinecones are from some old pot pourri.. which I am so sure you’ll have lying around somewhere!

There is something so beautiful about room spray bottles .. and this one from Home Bargains caught my eye as it was so classic yet perfect for winter time! Added bonus … it smells absolutely divine!

Candy Canes

I am OBSESSED with candy canes.. and they literally add the most beautiful pop of colour to an all white, winter-y photo! I love seeing these little gems pop up in the shops, and as soon as I saw them, I knew they would be perfect for photos! They are so so affordable too… and it means you have a little treat to have after you’ve had your photo taking session!

So guys… they are the few items I have picked up that I think will make my photos look so festive and perfect for winter! It definitely is worth picking up a few bits.. I find they really help me enjoy taking photos even more! You can get as creative as you want… and even make your own Winter props too! Pinterest is your best friend for this 🙂

I’m going to be off now… hope you enjoy the rest of your week! I am in the midst of editing a weekly vlog so I am hoping to get the up this weekend!! Fingers crossed for me to actually upload a video this time ha!

Lots of love,

Saira

My Beauty/Lifestyle hacks you HAVE to try!

Hiya girlies

It’s been a while. Sorry. You know when life just gets in the way? Yep that happened. Work has just been busy, I have been SO tired everyday.. and to be honest it was nice to have a few days away from everything blogging-wise. Sometimes it is just needed, right?

ANYWAY.. I am back and all set to blog properly again (I am aware I have said this for the past few weeks… this time I mean it, hehe). I think now that Autumn is peeking it’s little head through.. I am more motivated to post. If you didn’t already know (lets be real.. you all probably do because I haven’t stopped talking about it since the beginning of August, HAHA!), I bloody LOVE Autumn. I even posted about the reasons why I cannot wait for it (shameless plug right here guys).

Now.. onto this post. I am such a huge fan of beauty/lifestyle “hacks”.. tricks that people use to make their lives easier. There are SO many out there.. it can be easy to drown in them and not be sure which ones to use. SO… I thought it would be fun to talk you through MY “hacks” that I use. I have SO many.. but to be honest, I’d be here ALL DAY if I spoke about them all!

My GO-TO Beauty & Lifestyle Hacks!

SAM_5218

Coconut oil really CAN be used for everything.

SAM_5222

You know when people used to say you can do anything with coconut oil.. I was like .. meh sure. BUT .. I thought I would actually try and see how many things I could use it for. And you know what? You are right.. it can literally be used for EVERYTHING… and I thought I would make a good ol’ list of my fave ways to use it, so you can also incorporate coconut oil into your life. Thank me later guys.

Teeth Whitening

You know that age old trick of oil pulling? Yep it works. I know the idea of swishing oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes would be enough to make some of you vom, but it really is worth trying. I’ll be honest, the first time you try it.. it is weird. A trick to make it easier? Instead of putting a spoon of solid coconut oil in your mouth, try melting it first… it will still feel strange, but not THAT strange :). It is something that takes some time to show results, but it is easy enough to add into your routine (just don’t let anyone make you laugh whilst you are swishing away).

Removing Make-up

I discovered how good coconut oil was at removing makeup once when I was lazing around downstairs and noticed a jar of coconut oil on the fireplace (I don’t know what it was doing there either). I literally just scooped some out on my hand and massaged it over my face. I pretty soon had panda eyes and melted foundation on my skin (exactly what happens when I use my cleansing balms). It did an AMAZING job of removing every ounce of makeup.. although it did leave my face feeling a little on the greasier side. I washed my face as normal.. and noticed the difference in how soft my skin felt.

SAM_5229

Overnight Foot Treatment

I have never been one to invest a lot of money into overnight foot treatments… mainly because people rave about the old trick of vaseline and fuzzy socks.WELL… I am not the biggest fan of vaseline (the smell, feel, taste… OK I am joking about the taste, HA).. so I thought I would give coconut oil a go. Guys… it does an AMAZING job at making your feet feel so soft and hydrated. All I do is put LOADS of this stuff over my feet, put socks on over the top and sleep with them. Seriously, try it.

I wanted to list SO many more uses of coconut oil… but I would be here for days. These are just my favourite things to do.. beauty wise. Let me know if you want another post/video specifically on this!

Showering after work/school/uni

I was always one to either shower in the morning (and end up rushing, getting stressed/sweaty, and thinking WHAT WAS THE POINT), or leave showering right before bed (and then usually end up being too tired, thinking LEAVE it, and showering in the morning.. read above). I am sure so many of you can relate.. especially those who work full time. So.. how have I got myself out of this circle? Shower as soon as I get in from work. This might be what a lot of you already do.. but I always wanted to catch up on social media after work, then have my dinner, then catch up on soaps.. and the time would just keep ticking. Now.. I force myself to shower as soon as I get home.. and it helps SO much. I feel so much more awake after work so feel like I can be more productive.. AND I can get my makeup off straight away (and usually do some sort of face mask too).

My go to makeup for getting up late?

We all know the feeling… seeing that you have slept in and literally have 15 minutes to get ready. S***. Showering the evening before comes in handy now doesn’t it? Now.. unfortunately I am not lucky enough to be able to leave the house without looking poorly.. so I have mastered doing my makeup in 5 minutes with my essential items!

SAM_5238

  • Foundation – I have the most pale, dull skin .. so foundation is a MUST
  • Concealer – Dark circles.. biggest problem ever. Concealer = My bestie
  • Mascara – I look dead without mascara
  • Cream Blush – I find it so much quicker and easier.. and it looks so much more natural
  • Highlighter – Makes such a difference to how awake you look – an ESSENTIAL
  • Brows – I didn’t realize how much of a difference these made – now no matter how much I am rushing.. I ALWAYS do my brows.
  • Dark/Bright Lips – unless it is a work day.. then I will stick to lip balm.

SAM_5233

SAM_5241

It might sound crazy.. but I suggest testing yourself to see if you can do your makeup in a rush… it can be fun and will prepare you for those rushed mornings 🙂

Concealer application – the RIGHT way

For SO long.. I would apply concealer by just following the shape of my eye.. BUT .. there is a better way to apply it. It is called the triangle trick.. and yep you guessed it.. just apply your concealer in the shape of a triangle under your eyes (the point facing your cheek), and blend as normal. Why is this better? It helps brighten your face, as well as still concealing your dark circles.

The BEST thing for spots/breakouts

I have mentioned this before but I cannot emphasize ENOUGH how good this trick actually works. Savlon or Germolene (an antiseptic cream usually used for cuts/grazes or bites) is what I have been using on my spots for YEARS.. and it has been a lifesaver. As soon as I see a spot coming along.. I apply a thin layer of this, and it reduces any redness/swelling SO quickly. I swear by it.. and even keep some in my handbag for any  emergencies!

SAM_4410

The yummiest face mask EVER

If you know me, you will know how much I LOVE  a good face mask! I also dabble in some DIY projects here and there, so it is no surprise that I am a huge lover of DIY face masks! I have a go-to face mask that is literally good enough to eat (ahem.. I know from personal experience). It is a worth a try guys.. I am so sure you will love it!

SAM_5247

1/2 cup cocoa powder (dark is BEST .. as it has lots of anti-oxidants!)

1/4 cup honey

4 tbsp cream (both double and single are fine)

3 tbsp oats

Mix it all together.. apply onto clean skin, leave on for around 20 minutes and wash off!

SO.. they are my top beauty/lifestyle hacks.. I hope this can help some of you! I LOVED this post so so much.. let me know if you want me to do a fashion one too?

Thank you SO MUCH for reading loves… let me know your thoughts!

LOTS OF LOVE,

Saira

Spring DIY: Make-Up Storage & Room Decor

Hiya Darlings!♥

Happy Monday!! Hope you all have had a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!! Who got some sun? I was SO happy that Sunday was SUCH a beautiful day … it definitely felt like Spring had arrived.. lets just hope it lasts ey? To make the most of the weather.. I took some outfit photos (as you do)… and OF COURSE this one had to be a Spring appropriate outfit too… so make sure to keep your eyes out for that lovelies!

Right… I cannot even tell you how EXCITED I am for this blog post. For those of you who do not know.. I LOVE getting crafty and working on DIY projects… I LOVE creating things out of old jars, boxes and tins, as well as getting out my sewing machine and making my own make up bags and pillowcases! Might I add I am quite nifty at crocheting too :D. I just WISH I had more time to spend on making things! So… with Spring arriving.. I thought WHY NOT show my lovely blogging babes how to make some DIY projects!?

So.. of course I thought.. what is something that probably EVERYONE has after winter time (I am talking candle jars, gift boxes, plenty of decorative paper.. and maybe some glitter?). Don’t worry if you don’t have this stuff lying around lovelies.. I will give you some tips/advice on where you can find all of this for VERY CHEAP !

Now.. the things that I will be showing you how to make will include make-up storage and some pretty Spring decor for your room! So take a peek below angels…

What You Will Need/Where To Pick It Up From:

  • Jars – You can pick these up from your kitchen.. come on guys we all have empty pasta sauce/jam jars. For all you candle obsessed people (ahem.. myself).. I am sure you will have jars stashed away in your cupboards!
  • Metallic Spray Paint – Any craft store (even places like Wilkinsons, The Range and B&M.. and if you have time/the patience.. Ebay.)
  • Glitter – I picked up mine from a craft store and B&M. If you want .. you can buy in bulk on Ebay. Of course darlings.. you can get whatever colours you want!
  • Craft Beads – Poundland.. MY FACE WHEN I SAW THESE … I was originally going to use rice and dye it with food colouring (which is also a FAB and easy idea!)
  • Fake Flowers – I picked up mine from Wilkinsons, but any homeware/craft store do these! These are ESSENTIAL for making your room look Spring-y (is this even a word? Ha!)
  • PVA glue – Craft store… you can also pick this up from a Poundshop too in the kid’s craft section!
  • Masking Tape – YOU WILL HAVE THIS IN A DRAWER HIDDEN AWAY SOMEWHERE
  • Ugly photoframes – I picked all mine up from a charity shop. Charity shops are AMAZING for finding jars/frames.. and just anything that needs a revamp! AND everything is SUPER CHEAP..YAY!
  • Shoe boxes – Us bloggers will have plenty stashed away under our beds
  • Pretty paper
  • Hot Glue Gun – This is ESSENTIAL.. this glue is SO strong and easy to use! TRUST ME.. if you LOVE DIY projects.. it is worth picking one up!

OK LET’S GET ON TO THE FUN PART! I will talk you through how to make a few different things.. but honestly as long as you have the things above.. it is ALL YOU and how creative you want to get! I think that is what I LOVE about DIY… you can literally make something exactly the way you want it.. there are no rules so GO WILD!

Jars♥

Literally the best thing you can have to start a DIY… you can make SO many things with these! BUT FIRST.. how do you get leftover wax/labels off? Well…

  • Put the jar in the freezer for half an hour
  • Tap the jar on the bottom and the wax will fall straight out! You might need to get your scissors out and cut up the wax so it is small enough to take out of the jar! Just watch your fingers loves!
  • To remove the label.. use some hot, soapy water and remove what you can of the label. Then, use nail polish remover to remove any glue. Nail polish remover is AMAZING for removing leftover glue/paint!

So… let’s talk you through how to make some BEAUTIFUL JARS!

Brush Holder♥

This is on of my FAVOURITE things I made because it is just SO EASY! All I did was apply a thin layer of PVA glue (TRUST ME.. you only need a thin layer!) to the bottom half of the jar.. and sprinkle some silver glitter on! I left it to dry overnight.. filled it halfway with my craft beads.. and then placed my brushes in! OH.. don’t forget to spray ANYTHING glittery with hairspray so you don’t get fallout! Yay!!!

SAM_4137

Spring Decor♥

So.. I wanted to use jars to make some pretty Spring decor for my room. So.. I made one glittery one and one silver one! For the glittery one.. all I did was spray paint the jar gold.. applied PVA glue ALL over the jar and then sprinkle a mixture of gold and silver glitter! SO EASY! For the silver one… I drew out some hearts on some masking tape and stuck them onto the jar. I then spray painted the jar silver.. left to dry and VOILA! I then put the fake flowers in.. and your room INSTANTLY looks more cheery!

SAM_4140

SAM_4139

Cotton Pad and Q-Tip Holder♥

Now.. I LOVE having my cotton pads and q-tips on display.. I think it is SO much quicker and easier to find them, rather than digging around in your drawers! I also think it gives your room a slightly more “spa-like” feel… do you guys know what I mean? I hope so!! These are SO SO EASY TO MAKE.. this is where your masking tape comes in handy! For the cotton pad holder.. put some masking tape round the bottom of the jar … and spray paint the top half. Once this has dried, hot glue gun some cute little stickers all around! Woo! For the q-tip holder.. apply some masking tape to the middle of a little jar and spray paint it gold. Once it is dry.. apply a thin layer of PVA glue to the middle, sprinkle some glitter on and then hairspray to set once it is dry! I honestly LOVE both of these so so much!!

SAM_4142

Teacup Lipstick Holder♥

I thought of this DIY when I saw some teacups in a charity shop… it also reminded me of Beauty and the Beast!! So… this was also SO easy to make! I applied a thin layer of PVA glue on the top of the cup, sprinkled some glitter on and left to dry! Then.. half fill it with craft beads.. and hairspray the glitter! Arrange your favourite products as you like.. and there you have a Disney inspired holder for all your lipsticks!

SAM_4145

Pretty Photo Frames – GREAT storage for your perfumes/everyday makeup!♥

This is one of my favourite projects to do because I think the end result is absolutely stunning.. and they add a real “luxury” feel to your makeup storage! So.. get your photo frames and remove the glass so you are just left with the wooden bit! All I did with mine was spray paint them and sprinkle glitter all over! Once they had dried.. I put some pretty paper in the frame (where you would normally put your picture).. and then used them as pretty makeup trays!! You can do SO MUCH with these and really customize them.. give it a go loves!

Nail Polish Holder♥

I found this glass tray with a lid from a charity shop – I think it is actually a small oven dish (hehe!). This was SO easy to make too… I just sprayed the bottom with the silver paint, and for the lid.. I put PVA glue over it and sprinkled glitter on it! Once it had dried.. I hot glued a small drawer handle onto it so I could open it easily! And.. it is done! You have an ADORABLE little tray with a lid… perfect for lipsticks or nail polishes!

SAM_4159

Beauty Box♥

Now.. It is SO easy to make shoe boxes look pretty AND they make FAB storage for the inside of your drawers! All I did with mine was spray paint it white (you can glue some pretty paper on it if you want!).. then made little compartments by cutting up the lid of the box and sizing them up to make the sizes I wanted! I glued some pretty paper on the bottom of the box and also on the sides… then hot glued them to they were secure! You can make SO many of these so all your drawers are organized.. everyone has boxes/cardboard lying around.. you may as well make the most of them hehe!

SAM_4150

So lovelies… there you have some inspiration to use up your old jars/boxes AND make your room/dressing table look pretty, organized and ALL SET FOR SPRING! Should we see how it all looked?

SAM_4164SAM_4179SAM_4180SAM_4184SAM_4185

Quick secret though guys… this set up is in my mum’s room (it has the best lighting hehe!!)… as my room is RUBBISH for taking pictures!! I LOVE the look of everything though! I would LOVE to know what you think AND also if you have a go at making some!

So angels… I hope you enjoyed this…. make sure to leave me a comment to let me know if you give any a go!

Right darlings.. let’s have a quick catch up before I go ey? I am SO ready for Spring.. so be prepared to see some Spring outfits AND my make-up faves for this season! Also… let me know if you have any Spring trends you are looking forward to! I am hoping to buy a few essentials for Spring so will definitely put up a haul post once I do! Also.. guess what angels? I have A WEEK OFF WORK NEXT WEEK (Easter week).. so that literally means a week of relaxing, blogging, getting myself organized AND just everything I don’t have time to do when I am at work! Cannot wait WOOP!

I am going to love you and leave you know lovelies.. so have a wonderful week and I will see you in my next one!!

Lots of Love,

Saira

How to: Perfect Christmassy Afternoon♥

Hi my lovelies!

Hope you have all had an amazing weekend! I woke up to no rain today (YAY)… meaning I can take my outfit pictures!! I have also been a little busy this weekend organizing our registry office “wedding”… Me and my hubby have already had our “main” wedding day and our Nikkah done (the Islamic ceremony of marriage).. but we are just not registered yet.. so we will be having that done in January next year! Very exciting times!

Anyway….. I HAVE A VERY FESTIVE POST FOR YOU. I have been planning this post for SO long and am so excited to finally put it up! It is how to have the PERFECT Christmassy afternoon/evening, with festive themed baking, drinks, baths and pamper ideas! It is the perfect afternoon to have in the run up to Christmas, especially on a weekend! Eeeeek I am literally so exciting for you to see this post … And I really hope you try the ideas!

So, put aside a few hours, get some Christmas music playing, and lets have the PERFECT CHRISTMASSY AFTERNOON!

SAM_2720

The first thing that I think is SO MUCH FUN at this time of year is to do some BAKING! I am not a huge fan of mince pies (wish I was though!).. so I tend to avoid baking things with fruit in them.. I am however a HUGE fan of any vanilla/chocolate cupcakes! I thought I would make some standard vanilla cupcakes, but make it festive with different types of frosting and decoration. I also added some sprinkles into the cake mix (hehe!)

Recipe for Cupcakes:

Makes 24

  • 225g Butter (softened)
  • 225g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 225g Self-Raising Flour
  • 5 tbsp Milk
  • Sprinkles (optional) – as many as you want!
  • Lots of Christmassy sprinkles/decorations

SAM_2787

Method:

Put 24 red cake cases in muffin pans

Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC/Gas Mark 4. Put the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. Then, add one egg at a time, beating the mixture well after each one. Sift the flour in and fold into the mixture with the milk. If you want to, add the sprinkles in at this stage and mix well. Then, spoon the mixture into the 24 paper cases. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until well risen. Put onto a wire rack and leave to cool for at leas 20 minutes.

SAM_2789SAM_2791SAM_2735

Frosting!

Now, I actually had 4 differant types of frosting. I firstly made some basic buttercream frosting:

Ingredients:

  • 175g Unsalted Buteer
  • 350g Icing Sugar
  • Milk (if required) 1-2tsps

Method:

Put the butter in a bowl and beat until fluffy. Sift the icing sugar in and beat together until it is well mixed. If the frosting is quite thick, add in the milk. Separate into 3 bowls

Peppermint Frosting:

Add 2 candy canes (crushed) into the frosting (make sure they are TINY.. if the pieces are too big, you will NOT be able to pipe (TRUST ME IT HAPPENED TO ME!). Put the frosting into a piping bag and use a medium star-shaped nozzle. Pipe onto the cupcakes and sprinkle more crushed candy canes on top!

SAM_2800

Cinnamon Frosting:

Sprinkle a TINY amount of cinnamon into the frosting and mix well. Put in the piping bag and pipe the frosting on. Then, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar (sugar mixed with cinnamon) onto the top of the cupcake, and then place some edible gingerbread men on the top! I LOVE THESE! The gingerbread men are from TK Maxx and they are the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

SAM_2796

Chocolate Frosting

Add 2 tbsp of cocoa powder to the frosting and mix well. Add to the piping bag and pipe onto the cakes. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on some, and add the edible sugar decorations on others. Then, sift some icing sugar on the top to make it look like snow! ADORABLE!

Green Frosting

I cheated as this was ready made hehe! Just pipe it onto the cupcakes and add the edible sugar decorations on them.

SAM_2811

So there you have it! Vanilla cupcakes with different types of frosting .. these are just some examples that you can try but there really are so many variations .. so get creative my loves! YOU WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

SAM_2819

Wow.. I bet all that baking tired you out! What better thing to do than have a… LUSH BATH!♥ Before we start to run our bath, I want to show you how you can make the yummiest smelling body scrub EVER! It is so perfect for this time of year.. as it is a WHIPPED GINGERBREAD SCRUB!

HOW TO: Whipped Gingerbread Scrub

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of demera sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • Gingerbread sprinkles

IMG_7173

Put the sugars and oil in a bowl, and use an electric whisk until it is a whipped consistency. Add the spices, ginger and vanilla and whisk until they are blended in. Add to a cute jar, top with little gingerbread sprinkles… and you’re done! All set to use during your bath!

IMG_7177

Quick disclaimer: as this scrub has cinnamon and nutmeg (spices), it may irritate those with sensitive skin. I recommend ALWAYS doing a patch test, with ANY homemade scrub.. I also WOULD NOT recommend this one for your face lovelies.. I think you can guess why :P. If you want some DIY masks that are gentler, have a read of my blog post HERE

 Lush Bath♥

YES.. you knew this would be fitted into our Christmassy afternoon :D. You know the drill guys… lots of candles, face masks, scrubs and some magazines! My FAVOURITE bath bombs to use are Yog Nog and Lord of Misrule.. but you can use WHICHEVER ones you like angels!

IMG_7002

Bet your’re feeling pretty good after your bath right! Now it’s time to put on your coziest PJ’s and make a hot chocolate (check out my blog post HERE for some yummy ideas!)

It is now time to relax… you can put some Christmas movies on and start to wrap your presents!

SAM_2823

That is how you can have the perfect Christmassy afternoon! I can guarantee you will feel very festive after this, and definitely excited for Christmas. I really hoped you enjoyed this post angels… and let me know if you try the cupcakes and scrub! I think the scrub can also make a great DIY gift… I just cannot get over how gorgeous it smells!

Let me know what you thought of this post lovelies! I will see you in my next one!

Lots of Love

DIY Autumn Room Decor!

Evening lovelies!

It’s me again .. How are you all!? Hope you have all been very well :). Cannot believe this week is coming to an end, as well as the month! It will be Halloween in a few days! I hope you all had a read of my Halloween cupcakes post, and got some inspiration :).

Update on how may week has been so far .. I have just been at work, and am starting to get used to the darker evenings (it is now getting dark at around half 4!). Today at work was pretty crazy, from about 1:30pm, we lost access to ALL our systems, meaning we could not get ANY work done (!!!!). This led to most of us having a clear out of our desks (something we never get the time to do!), and then leaving work early! Pretty crazy right?!

So.. moving on, I have been SO excited to blog about this, as it combines so many of my favourite thing .. DIY’s, Autumn, and room decor! Now I know there are already Christmas decorations out (?!), but we are still in Autumn for at least a good month, so why not create some DIY decor for your room to make it feel/look autumnal! These things are SO cheap, quick and easy to make, and the only things I had to actually “purchase” was glue and tealights :). The rest of the things I had lying around the house and garden (leaves, conkers and sticks ;P). I really hope you give these a go, and let me know how you get on!

SAM_2179

Conker Candle Jar:

So… I actually had conkers from a few weeks back when we went to visit a country park. You can find these in a forest/park on the ground, but I am also sure you can pick fake ones up from craft shops/ebay! I also reused a candle jar, and used some ribbon that I had in my craft box.

Things you will need:

  • Empty candle jar
  • Conkers
  • Candle
  • Maroon Ribbon

SAM_2081

Directions:

The hardest part for creating this candle for me was actually getting the sticker off the candle! Firstly, if you have excess wax, put the jar in the freezer for an hour – this will cause the wax to shrink, and it will then fall out of the jar. Then, use nail varnish remover to remove any glue that is left over from taking off the sicker. Making the candle jar is pretty self explanatory really – you just fill the empty jar with conkers, place the candle in the middle, and wrap a ribbon round the top! So easy and simple!

SAM_2071 SAM_2055

How CUTE does it look though?! You can also use acorns or pine-cones too, if you can’t get your hands on conkers :).

Leaf Candle Jar

So, over the weekend, I actually picked LOTS of leaves and sticks. You can of course use fake leaves if you want. I placed all these leaves on my kitchen worktop with heavy books on top for a few days, so they could flatten and be easier to work with. This candle jar is also very easy to make, however you need to leave it overnight to dry, as we do use PVA glue.

Things you will need:

  • Leaves
  • Jars
  • PVA glue
  • Battery operated flickering candles

SAM_2120

Directions:

Cover the jar with PVA glue, and stick the leaves on there, covering the leaves in glue too. Make sure you use PLENTY of glue – don’t worry, it dries clear :). Leave to dry overnight, and that is all! I also finished it off with some ribbon wrapped around the top. I actually got this idea from Pinterest, and LOVED how it turned out. It is also easier to use the battery powered flickering candles in these jars :).

I think it is such a stunning project, and really is worth trying :). I think the effect when it is dark looks gorgeous, and the pictures really do not give it justice!

Glittery Hanging Leaves

Things you will need:

  • PVA glue
  • Glitter
  • Leaves
  • Yarn

Directions

Cover your leaves in PVA glue, and sprinkle the glitter over them. Leave to dry overnight. Then, using a pin, make a hole in the top of the leaf, and thread some yarn through. These look so cute hanging on your wall or on your door/cupboard handles.

Wooden Candle Jar

Things you will need:

  • Sticks
  • Empty Nutella jar
  • Ribbon
  • Candles
  • Hot glue gun

SAM_2149

Directions

Use a hot glue gun to glue individual sticks all around the jar. Hot glue guns are so much better because they dry so quick and are very strong :). Once you have stuck them all around, wrap a ribbon around it and place candles inside! I think this is such a unique and modern touch to a candle jar, and think it looks much more expensive that it actually was (I used an empty nutella jar and sticks guys .. you can’t get more cost effective than that!).

I LOVE DIY room decor so much, as you can make items exactly how you want them. I had SO many more ideas, like a crochet leaf garland, jumper candle jars, a leaf bowl…. but this post would have probably been up even later if I featured them!

Let me know what you think of this post, and if you want to see other DIY projects :). Have a lovely night loves, I am going to relax for a while, then sleep!

See you in my next post loves! By the way, hello to all my new followers, and thank you so much for taking the time out to read my blog!
