Travel Diary – Amsterdam

Hi GUYS

How ya’ll doing? Hope you have had the best week EVER. Been up to much ? If you follow me on practically any social media – you will know that I recently went to the ever so popular, BEAUT city of Amsterdam. Oh yes. One of the most popular places to visit ATM – especially amongst my fellow blogging gals. In fact – booking a city break and travelling to Amsterdam was actually on my Spring bucket list (ahem – post here if you fancy a gander) – and I was SO chuffed to tick it off!

So – as I was saying, unless you’ve been avoiding me on Twitter (hope not) you will know that I went to Amsterdam over the May Day bank holiday – and as the typical blogger would do – am writing up my travel diary for you (WOOP). Now – I have decided to incorporate a travel series on my blog – so will be doing a few posts on my trip, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

For now though – a quick run through of what I got up to, with plenty of shots of one of the most picturesque places I’ve EVER visited.

Day 1

Armed with our bags, we scuttled off to Leeds Bradford Airport and boarded our flight to Amsterdam, which only took 50 minutes (I couldn’t even fit an episode of 13 Reasons Why on it). We arrived at Schipol Airport around 4pm & got the train to Sloterdijk Station. We stayed at the Mercure Hotel just opposite there, so getting the train to central was an absolute doddle (literally took around 8 minutes).

After settling in to our hotel, we freshened up and headed out to central Amsterdam to explore. It honestly is one of the most beautiful places. It sounds odd but I found it one of the most lively, yet calm places ever. There was so much going on, but I never once felt stressed walking around. We were absolutely starving so found a cute Turkish restaurant to have dinner (you will be spoilt for choice -there is SO much to eat!), and then explored the centre a little bit more. We also found ourselves walking down the Red Light District too (don’t judge – hear me out guys), and I found it so fascinating to walk around. It didn’t have that ‘seedy’ feel to it that I thought it would, and honestly it was more of a tourist attraction than anything else. Prepare for a lot of ‘live show’ adverts & naughty shops though. Lol. After that – we scoped out where we’d be having breakfast the next morning, then headed back to our hotel.

Also – when booking the hotel I only selected a ‘room’ option – as there were SO many breakfast places that I wanted to try rather than just having what the hotel would serve (quick tip there for you).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Day 2

We had a little bit of a lie in then headed out on the train to central again for breakfast. I’d planned on having breakfast at the famous Pancakes – which there was actually a queue OUTSIDE for. But luckily we only waited around 15 minutes until we were seated. The pancakes were INSANE though and pretty reasonably priced too which was fab! After – we hopped on a ferry to North Amsterdam (which we could get with the travel ticket – more on that in my tips post!) and found a cute little cafe where we hung out for a while & for some lunch. Then, we got the ferry back to central & went to the Body Worlds museum – which was FANTASTIC. It is literally a museum with real human bodies that people have ‘donated’ and they have been preserved so you can see every single bit! It sounds creepy but it’s amazing and such an interesting place to see. We then got some fries (which Amsterdam is popular for and DAMN were they good) and then went back to the hotel for a quick rest, before heading back out to central for some dinner and another wander round! And yes as you can probably tell, we ate A LOT. I actually went past the Anne Frank museum – which unfortunately I couldn’t get into as it was SO busy, but it was just nice to see it in person. I love Anne Frank and her story and am definitely looking at going again so I can actually visit the museum next time.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Day 3

Our last day (boo!). We visited a place called Omelegg for breakfast which is again a very popular place – and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest breakfasts I’ve ever had! As you can probably tell by the name, they serve up omelettes (literally any one that you can imagine), and it was SO GOOD. The interior was also so adorable, but again this was quite busy too. We did have to queue to get a seat but we were seated pretty quickly, and it was worth the wait! After – we headed to a place called Beginhof, which is a courtyard in the middle of central Amsterdam where nun’s actually live, but it is open to the public to visit. This was a highly recommended place as it is so peaceful & beautiful, despite being in the centre of the city. I would highly suggest checking it out if you want to get away from the hustle & bustle for a while. We then walked around the gardens of Amsterdam museum for a while, before getting on a tram to Vondelpark. Ahh guys … the park. I feel as though this is Amsterdam’s version of Central Park in NYC (despite me never visiting New York LOL), it is definitely a beautiful place and if we’d had enough time, we would have rented some bikes out to ride around (as it was a BEAUT day). Unfortunately, time was ticking so we headed back to central, where we got some souvenirs and churros (which were SO good), and then made our way to the airport.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So – that was my short but very eventful trip to Amsterdam. I regretted not going for a canal boat ride, but we just did not have the time *cries*. Amsterdam is definitely a city where you are never short of things to do – and I am hoping to take another trip soon to visit other places such as the Anne Frank House & the outer regions (where the popular windmills & cheese farms are!) OH- we also managed to taste a lot of cheese whilst we were there in one of the many cheese shops (yum).

Right guys – I hope you enjoyed this travel diary of my trip! As I’ve said I will do another post with tips where I’ll go into detail about getting around Amsterdam, things you have to do and just some general helpful things! If you are thinking of visiting, I would 100% reccomend as there is SO much to see and do, whether you fancy a chilled out break or one spending your time in the coffee shops (hehe), or exploring all the history & museums!

Let me know if you liked this post – and also if you’ve been to Amsterdam! I’d love to know and see your posts if you have done any!

I’ll see you all in my next one – have an amazing weekend!

Lots of LOVE

How I Style: Blanket Scarves

Hey hey!

How is it so close to Christmas ?! I can’t even believe how quick December is passing by … this year is almost over! I’ve already had my Christmas do at work, and have a few days at work before some time off! Honestly .. I’ve been enjoying my new job so much but my goodness do I need a break!

Anyway.. Winter is my favourite season (after Autumn that is)… I just love everything about it! I did a whole post if you want to know WHY I love it so much .. which you can check out here ! Anyway .. the fashion is one of the main reasons I love it!

Now … there are so many different fashion items this winter that I’ve been obsessed with (I’m planning a whole post on it actually!)… BUT there is one specific thing that I’ve not been able to be without, and honestly if you do not have one of these, you are missing out! They have been everywhere this season, and you can pick up so many different colours & styles.. and they are definitely an essential item. It is of course … blanket scarves!

I have been so so obsessed with blanket scarves this year.. they are so easy to style up and instantly make you feel so cosy! There are so many ways to style it.. but I’ve been sticking to a regular way which has become my go to outfit on cold, winter-y days!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This little beauty is from Primark .. WHO FYI have some gorgeous scarves.. and they are less then a tenner (!). My fave way to style then has just been draped over this beautiful ‘coatigan’ from Zara (which is a mix between a coat & a cardigan… it’s a word guys!). I feel SO cosy and warm.. and of course greys & blacks just go with everything!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The boots are little stunners from Primark.. and honestly guys I fell in love with these as soon as I saw them! The quality is insane and they are SUCH a staple! I’ve noticed myself wearing them so much too… definitely pick them up if you spot them! I adore the detail of the zip on the side and the slight hint of snakeskin… they are definitely perfect for everyday :).

So many of you will know that winter is my all time favourite season for fashion … just because I find it so effortless .. it’s all about layering and feeling comfy! This is why I think blanket scarves are perfect … all I do before heading out the door is drape one of them over my shoulders, or wrap around my neck and I am GOOD TO GO!

Coat: Zara
Scarf: Primark
Bag: LYDC
Boots: Primark

The whole point of this post (besides experimenting with my new camera & outfit pics!)… you NEED a blanket scarf this Winter. Get one 🙂

Have an amazing weekend guys.. I am going to be spending mine making a gingerbread house, doing some shopping and getting inspiration for re-decorating my room! Sending you lots of love!

Life Update … & My Favourite Purchase

Hey!

So .. I know I have been a little bit of a stranger to the blogging world recently (slap on the wrist I know!)… but I have a genuine reason .. promise. If you follow me on Twitter you would have known that a) I have started a new job recently, and b) my husband had major knee surgery last week. So… a combination of these has meant my little blog has unfortunately been pushed to the back of my mind – but hey, life gets in the way sometimes and guess what… that’s OK. It took me a while to really get that in my head because every time I didn’t take my blog/Instagram photos for that day or draft up my post, I felt guilty. But what you have to remember is that certain things in life are more important than that perfect Instagram shot or getting a post up at a certain time … I blog as a hobby, not a forced activity. So taking time out helps you realize that and for a long time I have had the mindset ‘quality over quantity’, which has really helped me because I never rush my posts and love every single one I put up.

Also … another thing that has probably led to my lack of posts is that I am getting slightly bored of the layout of my blog… but I have done some research and am actually going to (finally) self host.. AND get a whole new theme! I am also on the hunt for a new camera (yes I know I still have my £40 Samsung), but I am so torn as to whether I want a Canon or the Olympus Pen (help me!).

Phew.. that felt good to get off my chest! That is what I love about blogging .. you can literally pour your heart out on a post and instantly feel better about it.

Now … another reason why I want another camera is because I really miss doing fashion posts… and I just feel my camera is not up to taking shots that I am happy with. When I first starting blogging, it was completely fine and I was happy with it, but now that I want to up my game slightly (eeek), I want to invest in a camera that will give me shots I will be happy with and proud to put on my blog.

Speaking of fashion posts … I HAD to share with you probably the best purchase I have made recently. A few reasons why I love it.. it’s velvet, it’s black, it’s over-sized, and… it cost me £2.50 (!!)

sam_5442

sam_5464

sam_5465

This the reason I love charity shops so much … you can literally pick up some of the nicest, most unique things ever. As I was trawling the rails, I spotted this little velvet beauty and just fell in love. Velvet is absolutely huge this season… both for clothes and accessories… in fact I have velvet ankle boots on my wishlist because I just NEED them. There is something so luxe about velvet .. it is honestly one of my most favourite things to wear!

sam_5455

sam_5450

Sometimes velvet can be seen as something that is worn mostly for evenings out… but I wanted to show you that paired with the right things, you can rock velvet during the day. In fact.. I’ve been nice enough to come up with some helpful tips:

  • Wear something over-sized (over-sized tops, swing dress etc) I think it’s best to save the body-con stuff for the evenings guys (although if you feel like you want to rock it.. you go girl.. fashion is all about personal preference and being unique)
  • Make it casual by wearing it with some black jeans/trousers and boots/trainers
  • Try mixing up textures … velvet and knitwear are gorgeous together… especially if you have a velvet dress with an over-sized cardigan (ultimate Autumn outfit goals)
  • Velvet blazers are so easy to style and go with so much (a lot more than you would think!)
  • Personally.. my favourite colours in velvet are black, burgundy and forest green. What are yours?
  • If you want to incorporate a little bit of velvet, get your hands on some loafers/boots or a bag

So guys ..there are some of my tips for  wearing velvet … I really want to pick up some more velvet things and show you how easy it is to style them up!

sam_5497

Details

Top – Charity Shop
Trousers – H&M
Trainers – Topshop

sam_5447

I went for a really casual look and just love how comfortable this whole outfit was. The only thing I WISHED I had was a metallic backpack … I feel like that would have just completed the outfit SO well (I can imagine right).

I know I’d definitely be able to take this look into the evening by pairing it with some heeled boots and a bold lip (perfect!)

Right girls and boys … I think I have rambled on enough .. I hope you enjoyed my little life update and also tips on bringing some velvet into your wardrobe! I am off to watch Friends and cuddle up with my poorly hubby! I will see you all in my next one!

Lots Of Love,

Autumn Essentials: Beauty, Fashion & Makeup

Hiya loves

Hope you have all had an amazing weekend! I have spent it catching up on ironing (exciting I know), going to see the Blackpool Illuminations (a tradition me and my family have), and taking some Autumn inspired outfit pictures (which you guys will see soon!). What have you all been up to?

Now.. I am sure you all know I was ready for Autumn WAY before it was acceptable (I am talking end of August guys)… but I think now is an appropriate time to do an Autumn essentials post right? I got you covered for beauty, fashion and makeup… so if you want to know what my essentials are for this season… have a peek 🙂

sam_5429

sam_5418

Make Up

To me.. Autumn makeup is all about dark lips, matte skin and TONS of highlight. Basically… makeup that resembles a vampire’s is what I am talking about. And of course you know me and my drugstore OBSESSION when it comes to make up – so of course I have a whole load of my fave bits that I always have on hand for my Autumn makeup.

  • Seventeen Stay Matte Foundation

I have raved and RAVED about this foundation for so so long… it really is one to try if you need a long lasting, matte foundation that has amazing coverage. You really need the smallest amount of this, as it goes SUCH a long way. And, at a little over a fiver… it is SO affordable and is a right hidden gem too. It’s worth a try girls, so pick it up on your next trip to Boots

sam_5389

  • MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter – Pink Shimmer

Can you believe that this time last year I did not use highlight (GASP)… it is now one thing that I never miss out when doing my makeup … it makes such a HUGE difference to how healthy your skin looks. And of course.. when it comes to Autumn time, the days are getting darker, your skin is not getting as much sun anymore and can tend to look a little dull. Your best friend? Yep.. highlighter. This little baby from MUA is one of my faves.. as is is SO affordable yet has the most amazing pigmentation. This one is more pink toned, but there is also one that is more on the gold side if that is what you prefer.. but I think I much prefer more cool toned highlights for the colder months (something about them just reminds me of frost on your skin.. and I LOVE that).

sam_5388

  • Sleek Matte Me – Vino Tinto

I have done a whole post on these guys, so I will link that here… but I LOVE these so much. Dark lips and Autumn just go hand in hand (ahem… like candles and Autumn.. FULL POST on that here too guys). I adore Vino Tinto as it is the right mix of berry and dark purple… it requires a little bit of practice to get a smooth application, but with a little bit of time and a good lip liner, it gives the most gorgeous, vampy finish.

Clothes

sam_5403

  • Faux Fur

I always pull out the faux fur when the days start to get colder. Autumn is all about feeling cozy… and I like to feel snug when I am out as well as when I am inside. Having a faux fur scarf, coat or gilet means you can do EXACTLY that.. you literally feel like you have a blanket around you and I am all about that. I am one of these people that would go out in my PJ’s every single day if I could (I am not lazy.. I just like being comfy, hehe).

  • Tartan

Regardless of whether you like to follow trends or not.. I can guarantee that tartan prints (just like fur) will always be popular for Autumn. Whether that is a tartan scarf, dress or shirt… you will DEFINITELY feel Autumnal when you rock it. I picked this beautiful, ruffled top from Zara (which I have currently become obsessed with)… I have been rocking it with a grey or black top underneath and love the layered look it gives. ANOTHER thing I can start doing is LAYERING… I will probably do a whole separate post on this because I could babble on about that for ages HA.

sam_5405

  • Pinafores

Ahhhhh PINAFORES.. I am so so so glad these came back into style this year because guys they are honestly one of the EASIEST things to style, both for work and casual wear. These two beauties are the ever so popular, £10 pinafores from Primark that EVERYBODY has become obsessed with. They are a gorgeous velvet/suede.. which again is HUGE for this season, and look fab with jumpers, button up shirts or t-shirts underneath. Seriously, if you do not have a pinafore yet.. GET YOURSELF ONE.

sam_5415

Beauty

  • Lush Snow Fairy  – Shower Gel and Body Conditioner

Now this might be a little controversial because we all know Snow Fairy screams Christmas time.. but I am a LITTLE bit in love with it so I have already whipped it out and become obsessed with it ALL over again. I am sure you are familiar with the beautiful pink, candy floss scented range from Lush.. but if not and you love your sweet scents, you have to pick it up! This year.. Lush have released a Snow Fairy body conditioner which I have fallen in love with. I find it really helps prolong that lovely candyfloss scent and makes your skin feel so so soft!

sam_5431

Another essential item is of course Lush bath bombs.. but I think they deserve a post all of their own right? I will definitely do a fave bath bombs post soon.. because there are SO many  that I love… in fact I could easily talk about each and every one ha!

sam_5396

Thank you so much for reading this guys… do you have any essential items you love for Autumn time? Let me know… and I may find some new things to try too! I will see you all in my next one 🙂

Lots of Love,

Saira

7 reasons I can’t wait for Autumn

Hiya!

Now.. I don’t know about you.. but I am the biggest fan of “list type” blog posts.. and there has been one particular thing that I have been listing in my head. Something that I am literally SO EXCITED for… and I know SO many of you are too!

*cough cough.. Autumn*

I get that some of you may be thinking WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING AT.. it is still too early to be thinking about the change of seasons. But guys.. I am just SO ready for Autumn… I honestly could not resist sitting down and chatting about it. You know when you are just so excited about something? Yep… that is me right now. You want to know something else? I am sat wrapped up in a blanket, with a cuppa, burning a candle & listening to Fairytale of New York (fyi.. THE BEST Christmas song). I DON’T EVEN CARE, MUAHA!

OK… maybe I am getting a little bit ahead of myself…

Seriously though… Autumn.. here are 7 reasons why I cannot WAIT for it

*BTW.. like my little friend? He is PERFECT for Halloween*

SAM_5211

You are allowed to drink hot chocolate every single evening. Yes you  read that .. EVERY EVENING. And I am not talking cocoa powder and milk stirred up and shoved in the microwave.. NO NO! I am talking Nutella melted with milk in a saucepan, topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate wafers… the list goes on. The more sugar/chocolate, (basically unhealthy shit crap), the better.

Dark lips become the norm again. Time to start rocking those gorgeous, berry lips again girls (and not have people give you funny looks/thinking you are a goth).

SAM_5195

Over-sized cardigans. That feeling of being able to chuck on a cardigan that is 3 sizes too big and rock that look like you are the sassiest chic around. You know what? I don’t think I have ever bought a cardigan that is my size. And I love it.. I always feel like I am carrying a blanket around my shoulders during the colder months, HA! Also.. I am not the biggest fan of summer clothes.. there is just something about being able to snuggle up in your clothes and layering up with scarves/gloves (eeeeeek I am SO excited!)

HALLOWEEN. I LOVE Halloween SO SO SO much… if you know me… you will know how much I LOVE scary movies.. and just creepy things in general. So.. it is pretty obvious that I am a huge fan of Halloween. Another thing that I can’t wait for? Carving pumpkins, decorating my desk at work & room (if the hubs doesn’t mind ha!), and posting Halloween themed blogposts/videos (hopefully!!).

SAM_5198

Darker evenings. Cozy evenings in are my favourite! Now.. I know that the clocks don’t actually go back until the end of October (when we get that EXTRA HOUR IN BED), but the evenings do start to get darker when September hits. Don’t get me wrong.. Summer evenings are AMAZING (for the few we have in UK)… but I much prefer cuddling up on the sofa with a hot drink and surrounded by candles, hehe. That’s got to beat all those sweaty, humid nights right?

Autumn walks and CONKER HUNTING. There is just something so nostalgic about searching for conkers… It is such a nice way to spend an afternoon! Also.. going for a walk when all the leaves have started to change colour .. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE OUTFIT PHOTOS!

Untitled.jpg

I can wear fuzzy socks and PJ’s without getting sweaty legs/feet. I am sure if you have read my blog/followed my social media for a while.. you will know the massive obsession I have with PJ bottoms. I always stock up on a few (erm.. OK.. LOTS) of pairs when Autumn hits. And of course.. I get the warmest, fuzziest, most random printed ones.. as you do.

SAM_5214.JPG

SO… If you weren’t already.. I hope my post has you very excited for Autumn (like me!).

Are you excited for Autumn? If so.. let me know what you favourite thing about it is!

Thank you SO much for reading – and make sure to leave me a comment to let me know what you thought! See you all in my next one.

Lots of Love,

Saira

Holiday Blues

Hey guys….

Muaha.. do you see what I did there with the title? Yep.. it was 2 weeks ago that I was having the best time EVER on holiday in Hisaronu, Turkey (FYI.. I have a full post all about my trip.. check it out). I am suffering from some SERIOUS holiday blues guys… I just want to be back in the sun, not worrying about work and just RELAXING! If only ey? Unfortunately, real life called and it was back to waking up at 6AM, working Monday to Friday and making the most of my weekends!

One thing I was definitely looking forward to after returning back from my holiday was getting back into blogging. As I had Ramadan, and then my holiday straight after.. my poor little blog got pushed to a side… but this break has definitely helped me feel more inspired and so much more motivated to do well with my blog and make it the best I possibly can! I always have so so many people ask me how on EARTH I manage to balance a blog, YT channel AND full time work.. and I will be honest.. it does get really tough sometimes. However.. because I see blogging as my “me-time”, I look forward to working on it after work! So.. even though I WISH I was back in Turkey.. it is nice to have a routine again!

One thing that I really missed so so much was the fashion element of my blog.. I feel like my blog has been so focused on beauty recently.. so I wanted to bring back my good ol’ OOTD’S (!!). I am SO SO excited because I recently got a tripod too so I am hoping to film some Lookbook’s on my YT channel.. let me know if you would like to see these loves!

Right.. I think I have babbled on enough .. should we get onto the actual outfit Saira?

I wanted to focus this outfit on a single item that I think is absolutely essential for the British Summer. Now.. we had a STUNNING few days of very hot weather (I felt like I was back in Turkey guys), and then you blink and it is back to cloudy, windy cold days.  Oh, the joys of British Summer (ha!). Anyway… back to my fashion essential for Summer time…

… A kimono.

SAM_5105

SAM_5115

SAM_5116

SAM_5106

I bloody love kimonos.. I am obsessed with cardigans in Autumn/Winter.. and kimonos are my alternative for the warmer months! They are just SO easy to wear.. and give your outfit that instant “boho” look to it.

I picked up this beautiful blue one from George at ASDA.. YEP YOU READ THAT RIGHT! I fell in love and knew I had to have it! The print is so stunning .. and this blue colour looks gorgeous on every skintone!

SAM_5129

I kept the rest of my outfit simple with a grey t-shirt (from where other than Primark?), some black jeggings (do I ever wear anything else), and some white loafers (another essential for Summer girls).

SAM_5138

SAM_5108

SAM_5112

Also.. you guys know I am not the biggest fan of dressing up.. I much prefer to keep things casual when I go out and have my makeup more dramatic, or switch up my accessories.. so instead of my usual day bag.. I paired the outfit with a clutch instead! I LOVE this simple clutch.. I can think of SO many outfits that it would go with.. In fact…I actually used this clutch on my registry wedding (hehe).

Details

Kimono – George @ Asda

T-Shirt – Primark

Jeggings – Zara

White Loafers – Peacocks

Sunglasses – Peacocks

Hijab – Mum’s

SAM_5149

SAM_5113

Seriously guys.. for what is left of the summer (tehehe), go and get yourself a kimono… I can guarantee it will become one of your most worn items in the summer! They look stunning over dresses (both maxi and mini), skirts, shorts, jeans.. basically everything (ha).

Right guys.. I am going to love you and leave you.. wishing I was back in Hisaronu…

LOVE YOU ALL LOADS.. and I will see you all in my next post.

Lots Of Love,

Saira

Shirts & Sports Luxe

Hiya darlings!!♥

How have you all been? Hope everyone has had an absolutely amazing week so far! Can I just say though.. we are in June.. but WHERE IS THE SUN GUYS?! We had a GORGEOUS Bank Holiday weekend… then … clouds/rain. Pah. That’s British weather for you!

I am not too fussed though.. because I’M GOING ON HOLIDAY IN JULY! Woop! Literally cannot wait.. I have not been on a holiday for SO many years so it is definitely overdue! It will also be the first time me and the hubs will be going abroad too! ALSO… for those of you who don’t know… I have Ramadan coming up.. which basically is a month of fasting that all Muslims take part in every year… no eating/drinking from sunrise to sunset! As I am sure you can imagine… my blog MAY slow down just for this month… I will see how I get on to be honest.. I may stick to my regular schedule OR drop down to 1 post/video a week.. I will see how I get on.. and will keep you updated too!

ANYWAYS GUYS… I have a fashion post this time. The spring/summer has really got to my head… I have been wearing lighter colours SO MUCH RECENTLY. Those who know me know that this is not normal HA!

SAM_4885

Now… I was inspired to do this post by this absolute STUNNER of a bag* that I got from LYDC London… For those of you who don’t know.. I am a Brand Ambassador for LYDC.. and I ADORE their bags so so much.. there is literally something for every style of bag you may want.. whether you prefer big/small bags, on trend/more classic styles, colourful/neutral… the styles they have are AMAZING! I know those of you who have read my blog for a while will know I have been a lover of this brand for SO long!

SAM_4868

SAM_4859

SAM_4852

So… of course in the UK… you never REALLY pack away your winter wardrobe right? Come on guys.. we have had SNOW before in June.. I am not ruling ANYTHING out! So.. I still have my FAVE faux fur gilet that I was obsessed with in the winter lurking around my wardrobe! This little baby is SUCH an essential for those days when it might be chillier/raining to add that extra bit of warmth! Although.. I do want to get myself on some lighter, sleeveless layering pieces! But for know.. lets work with the faux fur ey?

SAM_4873

What am I doing here… HA!!

SAM_4876

SAM_4878

SAM_4883

SAM_4891

I have become OBSESSED with oversized, button down shirts recently.. they are honestly SO easy to style and are lovely and comfortable to wear in the warmer months! I actually pinched this one from my mum’s wardrobe of clothes she doesn’t wear anymore.. muaha. Raid your mum’s wardrobes girls.. you might be pleasantly suprised. Or your dad’s for that matter… there will definitely be some button up shirts in there.

SAM_4893

SAM_4894

SAM_4898

SAM_4895

Oh… yes .. it is my beloved, (slightly) boyfriend style jeans (from the one and only PRIMARK!)… I cannot even tell you how obsessed I am with these.. SO SO COMFY guys.. and they go with SO many looks. I might try and see if I can style these for an evening look.. so stay tuned for that loves!

SAM_4905

For shoes.. I wanted to keep the look effortless .. so wore my FAVOURITE loafers EVER.. these were an absolute bargain from Dorothy Perkins.. I love the shoes from there SO SO MUCH! They are also SO comfy too.. and they go with EVERYTHING! For my hijab.. I wanted to keep it basic.. so wore this cream coloured one to just tie everything together!

SAM_4923

SAM_4926

SAM_4921

Now… onto the main focus of the outfit.. the BAG! I love the black against all the light colours.. it just adds something more to the outfit.. and I think it gives it a really chic, effortless look (tehehe.. what do you guys think?). I ADORE the slouchy look of this bag too.. I usually stick to quite structured bags.. so this was a nice change! I have to say guys.. this bag fits a CRAP LOAD of stuff in.. which is always a winner for me ha! It has a gorgeous, sports luxe feel to it.. which is always a WINNER for spring/summer trends!

As always .. you can get 10% off ANYTHING from LYDC using my code “SAIRA10”

SO LOVES.. what did you think? I think this is a PERFECT daytime outfit… I will actually be doing an evening outfit featuring a similar style bag too… so keep your eyes peeled for that girlies!

Blog Photography 101♥

Hiya lovelies!♥

Hope you have all had a wonderful week.. and also enjoyed your Bank Holiday.. how does it seem so long ago already?!

I wanted to do a post that would hopefully help A LOT of you lovely guys out there… Recently I have been having SO many compliments on my blog photos (you are a lovely bunch.. I could just squeeze you all!)… so I thought what better thing to babble on about than photography!

Quick little disclaimer too.. I am by NO means a professional.. I just take photos for my little blog and for fun too.. and everything that I have learnt has been through experience and knowledge picked up here and there from other bloggers! I have been blogging for around 8 months.. and I can honestly say that I think my photos have improved massively! SO.. without further ado… lets get on with it… woo!

The Basics♥

Background

Decide on what background you want. This is completely personal and up to you – whether you want a bright, colourful background, a white, marble background (the standard blogger background – and my personal fave!).. the choice is completely yours! Now this is where DIY shops come in handy… remember when your parents were re-decorating the living room and they took home about 20 different wallpapers to see what went well together? WELL… you can do exactly the same (tehehe).. so pop into B&M or B&Q and take a few “samples”.. just don’t go too crazy (ha!). Another thing that can work amazingly is a plain canvas! I also want to incorporate different textures into my background.. i.e. faux fur or blankets.. I have seen quite a few people do this and it looks GORGEOUS and really adds something to their images!

Location

Girls.. FIND YOUR BLOGGING SPOT. Whether that is a corner in your bedroom, the hallway.. the bathroom.. find a location that works for you! Now.. I mean a location where there is plenty of natural light, lots of room for you to move around, and NO CLUTTER! I like to use the space in the spare living room, right next to the window! It is also worth keeping a box/basket where you can keep items you regularly use in photos (such as props.. MORE on these later!). I am honestly DREAMING of the day I have my own office/blogging/vlogging room… but for now.. my living room will do!

Camera

Should I be honest with you girlys? The camera I use is a Samsung 16MP HD digital camera that Saj (the hubby) got me whilst we were at Uni (5 years ago). Yep. I would LOVE to invest in an Olympus Pen (THE perfect blogging camera).. but when you have a mortgage to save up for… it is (unfortunately) not the first thing on my shopping list (boo!!). I WILL GET ONE SOON! Hint… it is my birthday in July.. just saying. ANYWAYS.. the whole point of that little babble was to reassure you that any camera you have is FINE. Whether you have a Canon (dreamy), or are using your iPhone… your photos will still be FAB!

Editing

Now… for me … I had to include editing in this Basics list guys. Trust me.. it makes a MASSIVE difference into how eye catching/professional your photos look. Don’t be scared.. you do not have to do any fancy editing whatsoever! Just stick the brightness/highlight/contrast up a little bit.. and if you have bright colours… a teeny increase on the saturation never hurts. I use Pic Monkey for editing my blog photos.. it is SO easy to use.. and it is free! It is also pretty foolproof too.. so you should definitely check it out!

SAM_4400

So lovelies.. that is my advice on the basics of blog photos! These should hopefully help if you are just trying to up your blog photo game.. and are some good starting points!

NOW.. if you have mastered the basics (which I am sure you will… there really isn’t much to it.. hehe)… you can move onto the ADVANCED points. OK… they are not really advanced.. it is just things that take that little bit more effort.. and I feel are essential if you really want to up your blog photo game.

Advanced♥

Flat Lays

Ohhh .. nothing better than a good old flat lay image. Yes they take that little bit more time, yes they cause you to have a sore back, yes you look like an absolute BOOB when you are taking them.. but THEY MAKE A DAMN GOOD PHOTO! I only really started taking flat lays a few months into blogging.. now every photo of mine has to be one hehe! I thought I would share some of the tips/tricks I have picked up along the way!

One word. Chair. Enough said.

Props are literally your best friend when it comes to flat lays. I like to think of my flat lays as telling a little bit of a story (weird I know, haha!).. but I find that this helps me so much! See one of my favourite flat lays below:

IMG_9470

This was from my Teen Make Up Post.. and I used props that I associated with being young (the old generation iPod, baby lips lip balm, a very retro looking mascara).. and I loved how this image turned out!

Use one item as a “base” item. Then add other items that associate with that! For example.. use a glass of water (very basic I know)… then add some pretty drinking straws, some fake flowers.. maybe a funky little tray.. AND YOU ARE DONE! It really is all about getting creative and letting your personality shine in your photos!

SAM_4726.JPG

Confetti makes all the difference. Especially if you have a plain white background.. confetti just makes the image look extra special and eye catching. Trust me.. grab some confetti and go wild. Just keep the hoover close by.. you will make a mess, ha!

SAM_4408

Don’t go overboard. For me.. there is nothing worse than my flat lay looking too crowded. I like to be able to see the background too.. and I know when I have added way too much to my photos! Just experiment and see what looks right!

Lighting

For over 7 months of my blogging life.. I stuck to natural light/editing… and I was happy. HOWEVER.. once I started YouTube.. I realized lighting was that LITTLE bit more of an essential. I have included it in this Advanced section because I happily took all my photos without them… and you can too. However.. if you are able to invest in some.. I would say do it. They make taking blog photos so much easier… you do not have to worry about shadows, everything just looks more “crisp”, and you can take your photos at more or less any time and not worry about natural light as much! I use soft box lighting.. and I picked them up for £30 on eBay.. not bad at all ey?!

 Props

Anything makes a good prop. Beauty products, fake flowers, little bunnies, lipsticks… trust me.. have a Blog Prop Box with ANYTHING you find around the house and use it in your photos! It makes them so much more fun to look at! As mentioned before.. try not to add too many in one photo! A perfect example would be:

  • Your favorite beauty items
  • Some fake flowers
  • Small glass hearts
  • Some seasonal items (bunnies for Spring time!)

SAM_4455

DONE!

Lastly.. BE CREATIVE! Your blog and the photos you take are all about showing you and your personality. Get as creative as you want! If you want.. you can even make each of your images have a specific colour theme/beauty theme.. anything goes!

SAM_4714

General Tips♥

Take plenty of photos

Trust me.. the last thing you want is to take maybe 5″good” photos, put all your set up away, upload your photos.. and realize you hate every single one. Oh yes.. it happened to yours truly. AND it was a nightmare! Take as many photos from one angle, then move to another, and ANOTHER. This just means you have plenty to pick from!| I usually have around 80 photos to pick from.. and only end up using 8-9 ha!

Avoid the flash

The flash is evil. It makes your photos look washed out and weird. I have NEVER had any luck when using the flash.. so I recommend avoiding it! Stick to your natural light/soft box lighting… it looks SO much nicer!

Try not to over-edit

You want your pictures to look bright, crisp and clear. You do not want a blue/orange toned photo, or an image that is WAY to bright to look at! As I mentioned previously, a little bit of an increase in the contrast/brightness/highlight is all you need.

Designate a blog photo taking day

This will make your blogging experience so much easier! Set up your little photography studio (ahem .. in that little corner of your bedroom).. and take 2-3 posts worth of blog photos on one go! This means that everything you need is in one place.. and you are not running back and forth searching for your items to photograph! It also helps when you are writing.. as your photos will always jog your memory of what you are talking about!

Some Quick Instagram Tips!!

I thought I would add in some SPEEDY tips for Instagram photos!

  • Take these at the same time you take your blog photos! It makes complete sense right.. you have everything set up.. why not? I like to take my weekly set of Instagram pics so they are all set to go up!
  • For convenience.. take them on your phone camera! This means they are easy to access and quicker to edit too! I use PS Express to edit my Instagram photos.. and I use the same editing style for these too!

So loves.. that is my advice for blog photography! I personally think photos are SO important.. and are one of the main things that drive people to your blog! EVERYONE loves seeing lovely, bright images… so I really hope you are able to pick up on some of these things to help you!

I hope this post was informative.. I would love to know any tips you have, as I am always willing to learn more! Remember to just have fun and be as creative as possible! Thank you SO much for reading darlings.. and I cannot wait to see you in my next one!

Lots of Love,

Spring Fashion Essentials♥

Hiya my darlings!!

Hope you have all been VERY WELL!♥

Little bit of an important message here guys… I would LOVE if you took the time out to read it!I have honestly missed you all so so much. I know .. that probably sounds weird right.. how can you miss someone you have never even met/spoken to in person right? I think those of you who blog (probably all of you.. hehe) will know exactly what I mean. The blogging community that exists is such a wonderful thing… I have felt a little bit out of the loop recently. Since starting YouTube.. a lot of my time has gone into working on that. Do not get me wrong lovelies.. I absolutely love my blog so so much… I think I just need to get into the habit of having both that and a YT channel, and giving dedicated time to each of them. This means making sure each blog post/video I put up is something that I am 100% happy with (it always is anyway… I just wanted to mention it as it is something I will NEVER let happen loves), ensuring I take extra time out to read other blogs (still one of my favourite past times EVER), watch other videos.. and work on exciting things with different brands. I know what you are thinking.. it sounds so full on, and on top of working full time/spending time with my family, it is. But to be honest.. I love every second of it. I just have to get myself into a proper routine to ensure I am not neglecting either my blog or YouTube… but you guys know me.. the QUEEN of organisation ey!?

I do not know if some of you may have noticed but I have dropped down to 2 posts week instead of 3, as I like to spend that time on filming/editing my video that goes up! I knew that I just would not have had the time to put up 3 posts AND a YT video every week! For me.. that is a good balance… I actually only put up ONE blog post last week.. and I honestly missed it SO much! I am not even afraid to admit that every spare moment I have is spent on my blog/YT.. whether that is writing/reading/watching/planning… my brain is always buzzing with ideas!

I just wanted to get that off my mind… even though you guys may not have noticed it.. I felt as though I had been neglecting the blogging community.. I have not been as active on reading posts and felt a little zoned out.. but I am SO glad to have found a good balance.. and am SO excited to get on with it and create content that I LOVE!♥

Anyways darlings… I hope my little message made sense! That is what I LOVE about blogging.. you really can just pour your heart out.. and feel 10 times better after ! NOW… should we get on with this post?

Spring Fashion Essentials

SAM_4688

So… if you have been keeping up with my blog.. you would have noticed quite a few Spring posts.. including:

Spring Beauty/Makeup Essentials

&

Essential Spring Accessories

Now of course… I had to leave the best (ahem.. in my opinion tehe) until last… and that is of course.. the SPRING FASHION ESSENTIALS!! I have FOUR items that I think are essential in every girl’s wardrobe to get you feeling Spring ready! Have a peek lovelies!♥

Lightweight Stripy Shirts♥

Now.. I don’t know about you… but this is one style that I have been seeing absolutely EVERYWHERE. And I am the BIGGEST fan of it! Stripes is something that I am in love with all year round… and seeing beautiful pastel coloured stripy tops/shirts EVERYWHERE has made me a very happy girly this season! If you saw my previous outfit post.. you would have seen how I styled one of my favourite items I bought recently.. which was obviously a stripy shirt guys!

SAM_4627

SAM_4628

SAM_4633

Trustme darlings.. pick up a couple of button up stripy shirts and over-sized t-shirts … and you are ALL set for the PERFECT, laid back spring outfit! Mine are both from Primark.. so you can bet they were VERY affordable!

Lacy Things♥

Ha.. nothing better than a little but of lace to have you feeling set for Spring? There is just something so perfect about it for this season… and whether you wear a lacy dress or a top with some lace detail.. all will look adorable and ready for Spring time! I have seen SO many tops with lovely lace detail at the bottom.. this style is exactly what you want if you are going for a casual, day time outfit. Pair with some loose jeans and converse for the perfect daytime look.. and swap to a lace midi skirt for the evening!

SAM_4637

If you want to see how I style a lacy dress TWO different ways… check out my outfit HERE!

Light Wash Denim Jeans♥

Oh yes.. you read that right.. Saira is recommending a pair of jeans! If you know me and my outfits… you will know I hardly EVER wore jeans… I found them SO uncomfortable to wear! BUT .. I recently picked up a pair in Primark and.. oh goodness lovelies.. they are honestly the most COMFIEST pair EVER! I think I have fallen in love as they are not those awful, stiff, hard-to-move-in style. There are SO many styles of jeans now.. mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, ankle grazers… meaning jeans are much more looser/comfortable.. yet STILL look adorable! I think a perfect pair of ankle grazers with a few rips are PERFECT for this season… and you girlies seriously need to grab yourself a pair!

SAM_4657

SAM_4615

See my favourite jeans styled HERE!

Thin Knit Cardigans♥

Lets be real here lovelies…Spring in the UK is mostly rainy (and snowy for that matter!), with a few days of sunshine.. so it is still essential to keep some cardigans handy! I don’t actually mind this.. I am a HUGE lover of cardigans.. and I will happily wear them ALL year round! Obviously.. your huge, fur lined cardigans you lived in during the winter will NOT be the perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe.. but stock up on some thin knitted ones.. and you are good to go!! I still prefer them over-sized.. I am not a fan of fitted cardigans.. they are something I usually wear for work though, hehe! You can NOT go wrong with a classic grey one.. I picked up the most PERFECT one in the New Look sale which I CANNOT wait to style for you!

SAM_4678.JPG

Muted Coloured Scarves♥

I am sure you all know I LIVED in black hijabs in the colder months.. but  thought to myself… Saira.. you cannot do the same thing for Spring! SO… I HAD to pick up some lighter coloured scarves! Of course.. these scarves are perfect to replace your thicker, wooly scarves… and they can add the PERFECT touch to any outfit! I cannot wait to get my hands on a few more.. I have light grey, blue and pink ones on my wishlist!

SAM_4669.JPG

psst.. you can see me in the glasses.. haha .. the problems of having reflective sunglasses as a prop!

Fancy getting 20% off my phone case? It is from Coconut Lane and you can use my code “glitterglass20”. They have SO many new items too! I will be doing another giveaway with them on my YT channel so keep your eyes out for that!

So my lovelies.. would you like an overview of what my Spring Wardrobe will consist of? Make sure you also let me know about your fashion essentials!

  • Stripy over-sized tops
  • Lightwash denim
  • Lots of greys/creams/whites.. oh yes lovelies.. I am TRYING to steer away from the black! Although I know it will STILL make an appearance!
  • Lacy details

Right darlings.. that concludes my Spring Essentials posts! I have you covered for Beauty, Fashion AND accessories… let me know if you would like me to do these for each season! I would DEFINITELY love to.. as I have VERY MUCH enjoyed these!

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who reads my blog and supports me.. I want to apologize if any of you have noticed I have not been as active… I am ALL SET to give my blog/you all as much support as you all deserve!!

I cannot WAIT to see you in my next one lovelies! Also.. make sure to check out my YouTube too.. I put up my FIRST VLOG!!

Lots of love,

Spring Stripes♥

Hiya my lovelies!!!!♥

HOW HAVE YOU BEEN? Hope you have had a wonderful start to this week! I have had a busy few days … If you read my previous post you will have known that I went to Leicester.. which you should hopefully find out ALL about very soon (tehehe!).

Then.. it was BACK to my normal working week after a LOVELY 4 day weekend.. getting away, even for a short while can really make you feel amazing! If you ever feel like you need some time away from everything… just go. Whether that is to another city/country/down the road (ha).. do it.. you would be surprised at how much getting away from it all can help with your mindset!

WELL.. this turned into a little bit of a life advice post (haha!)… I actually have a fashion post for you all (WOOOOOOO I hear you shout – I hope). I cannot even remember the last time I posted an outfit of the day! I have had plenty of beauty reviews, essential posts & tips.. but a good old OOTD… Nope. Not for a while! So.. ain’t you all in for a treat (OK Saira get off your high horse, hehe!).

Remember my beloved outfits in Autumn/Winter time that consisted MAINLY of dark colours/lips/lots of faux fur? Well… I have got a lovely little spring number for you today, featuring some of my latest hauled items.. shown in my latest video! If you haven’t seen it already (or subscribed to my channel).. the link is HERE! I would love your support there my darlings.. you are amazing on my blog and I would love to know what you think of my channel!

Let’s take a peek!♥

We were lucky enough to have some sun in the UK recently (VERY short lived though!).. so of course I HAD to post a Spring appropriate outfit! My top is this BEAUTY from Primark.. it is SO easy to wear, and is also very loose fitting – perfect for keeping you cool when the weather eventually warms up! I love a good stripy top .. you can never have too many! Let me know if you agree (I know so many of you do anyway .. muahah!). I also love that it is a button up shirt… meaning you can make it look EXTRA casual by wearing it unbuttoned with a plain white/grey tee!

Now the JEANS! Oohhh the jeans. If you have been a follower of my blog from when I first started.. you would have known that I would only EVER wear black jeggings/leggings and tights.. I would STEER away from jeans as I found them SO uncomfortable! However.. recently I have seen SO many different styles/colours of jeans becoming popular again .. so I REALLY wanted to try a pair! This lovely pair from Primark is quite a soft denim (which is my favourite!).. and I absolutely LOVE the wash and the little rip detail too! I MUCH prefer more subtle rips.. compared to huge ones! ALSO.. my fellow hijabi bloggers.. don’t worry about baring your knees/legs in ripped jeans… just wear a pair of thin leggings/footless tights underneath! ALSO.. if you are quite the creative chic.. add some pretty lining underneath!

If there is a pair of shoes you HAVE to buy for Spring.. make it some white trainers. Trust me.. it will be the best thing you EVER BUY! They look adorable, are comfy and will go with absolutely ANYTHING! They even got a cheeky mention in my previous post! They also just look adorable with this whole outfit too… and definitely give it a gorgeous, laid back look!

SAM_4608

LOVE these dainty, rose gold bracelets from Jewellery Box.. SO perfect for Spring!

SAM_4599

I knew I wanted a muted coloured hijab to finish off this outfit.. and this over-sized one from Primark was PERFECT. WOW.. I have just realized.. EVERYTHING IS FROM PRIMARK! Whoops!! Well.. at least that makes it easy for those who want to recreate this look, hehe! I bought all these bits in the last 3 weeks.. so fingers crossed they should all still be there!

SAM_4615

SAM_4617

Of course.. with this being a Spring post.. the perfect accessory would be some sunglasses right? These were a BARGAIN for £5 from Peacocks! LOVE THEM! I kept my bag simple with my nude fave from LYDC*. PERFECT!

Full Details♥

Top, Jeans, Hijab and Shoes – All Primark

Sunglasses – Peacocks

Bag* – LYDC London

So my darlings.. I really hoped you liked this outfit! I just LOVE the laid back look it has… It is definitely  a perfect outfit for the upcoming Bank Holiday we have. I will definitely be picking up some more jeans… and more over-sized shirts. I think this will literally be my staple look this season.. expect to see similar outfits in the future hehe!!

So my loves.. I hope you enjoyed this very Spring themed outfit.. here’s to more sunny Spring days (please!?). Do you have any plans for the bank holiday? What have been your favourite things to wear recently? I literally cannot WAIT for more Spring Fashion to come up on my blog… Ohhhh take a guess of what post is next?!

It was SO lovely to sit down and catch up on blogging…starting a YT channel means I dedicate my time to that too.. so it is not all about the blog anymore hehe! They are both my babies.. but I will always have a soft spot for my blog as that is where all of this began! I am already getting excited to put up my next post, yay!

SO SWEETIES… that is me done on this post! Hope you liked it… make sure to let me know if you want to see more fashion, beauty or lifestyle.. or anything else random too! Also.. let me know if you have any video requests!! I will see you all in my next one loves!

Lots of Love,
