Spring DIY: Make-Up Storage & Room Decor

Hiya Darlings!♥

Happy Monday!! Hope you all have had a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!! Who got some sun? I was SO happy that Sunday was SUCH a beautiful day … it definitely felt like Spring had arrived.. lets just hope it lasts ey? To make the most of the weather.. I took some outfit photos (as you do)… and OF COURSE this one had to be a Spring appropriate outfit too… so make sure to keep your eyes out for that lovelies!

Right… I cannot even tell you how EXCITED I am for this blog post. For those of you who do not know.. I LOVE getting crafty and working on DIY projects… I LOVE creating things out of old jars, boxes and tins, as well as getting out my sewing machine and making my own make up bags and pillowcases! Might I add I am quite nifty at crocheting too :D. I just WISH I had more time to spend on making things! So… with Spring arriving.. I thought WHY NOT show my lovely blogging babes how to make some DIY projects!?

So.. of course I thought.. what is something that probably EVERYONE has after winter time (I am talking candle jars, gift boxes, plenty of decorative paper.. and maybe some glitter?). Don’t worry if you don’t have this stuff lying around lovelies.. I will give you some tips/advice on where you can find all of this for VERY CHEAP !

Now.. the things that I will be showing you how to make will include make-up storage and some pretty Spring decor for your room! So take a peek below angels…

What You Will Need/Where To Pick It Up From:

  • Jars – You can pick these up from your kitchen.. come on guys we all have empty pasta sauce/jam jars. For all you candle obsessed people (ahem.. myself).. I am sure you will have jars stashed away in your cupboards!
  • Metallic Spray Paint – Any craft store (even places like Wilkinsons, The Range and B&M.. and if you have time/the patience.. Ebay.)
  • Glitter – I picked up mine from a craft store and B&M. If you want .. you can buy in bulk on Ebay. Of course darlings.. you can get whatever colours you want!
  • Craft Beads – Poundland.. MY FACE WHEN I SAW THESE … I was originally going to use rice and dye it with food colouring (which is also a FAB and easy idea!)
  • Fake Flowers – I picked up mine from Wilkinsons, but any homeware/craft store do these! These are ESSENTIAL for making your room look Spring-y (is this even a word? Ha!)
  • PVA glue – Craft store… you can also pick this up from a Poundshop too in the kid’s craft section!
  • Masking Tape – YOU WILL HAVE THIS IN A DRAWER HIDDEN AWAY SOMEWHERE
  • Ugly photoframes – I picked all mine up from a charity shop. Charity shops are AMAZING for finding jars/frames.. and just anything that needs a revamp! AND everything is SUPER CHEAP..YAY!
  • Shoe boxes – Us bloggers will have plenty stashed away under our beds
  • Pretty paper
  • Hot Glue Gun – This is ESSENTIAL.. this glue is SO strong and easy to use! TRUST ME.. if you LOVE DIY projects.. it is worth picking one up!

OK LET’S GET ON TO THE FUN PART! I will talk you through how to make a few different things.. but honestly as long as you have the things above.. it is ALL YOU and how creative you want to get! I think that is what I LOVE about DIY… you can literally make something exactly the way you want it.. there are no rules so GO WILD!

Jars♥

Literally the best thing you can have to start a DIY… you can make SO many things with these! BUT FIRST.. how do you get leftover wax/labels off? Well…

  • Put the jar in the freezer for half an hour
  • Tap the jar on the bottom and the wax will fall straight out! You might need to get your scissors out and cut up the wax so it is small enough to take out of the jar! Just watch your fingers loves!
  • To remove the label.. use some hot, soapy water and remove what you can of the label. Then, use nail polish remover to remove any glue. Nail polish remover is AMAZING for removing leftover glue/paint!

So… let’s talk you through how to make some BEAUTIFUL JARS!

Brush Holder♥

This is on of my FAVOURITE things I made because it is just SO EASY! All I did was apply a thin layer of PVA glue (TRUST ME.. you only need a thin layer!) to the bottom half of the jar.. and sprinkle some silver glitter on! I left it to dry overnight.. filled it halfway with my craft beads.. and then placed my brushes in! OH.. don’t forget to spray ANYTHING glittery with hairspray so you don’t get fallout! Yay!!!

SAM_4137

Spring Decor♥

So.. I wanted to use jars to make some pretty Spring decor for my room. So.. I made one glittery one and one silver one! For the glittery one.. all I did was spray paint the jar gold.. applied PVA glue ALL over the jar and then sprinkle a mixture of gold and silver glitter! SO EASY! For the silver one… I drew out some hearts on some masking tape and stuck them onto the jar. I then spray painted the jar silver.. left to dry and VOILA! I then put the fake flowers in.. and your room INSTANTLY looks more cheery!

SAM_4140

SAM_4139

Cotton Pad and Q-Tip Holder♥

Now.. I LOVE having my cotton pads and q-tips on display.. I think it is SO much quicker and easier to find them, rather than digging around in your drawers! I also think it gives your room a slightly more “spa-like” feel… do you guys know what I mean? I hope so!! These are SO SO EASY TO MAKE.. this is where your masking tape comes in handy! For the cotton pad holder.. put some masking tape round the bottom of the jar … and spray paint the top half. Once this has dried, hot glue gun some cute little stickers all around! Woo! For the q-tip holder.. apply some masking tape to the middle of a little jar and spray paint it gold. Once it is dry.. apply a thin layer of PVA glue to the middle, sprinkle some glitter on and then hairspray to set once it is dry! I honestly LOVE both of these so so much!!

SAM_4142

Teacup Lipstick Holder♥

I thought of this DIY when I saw some teacups in a charity shop… it also reminded me of Beauty and the Beast!! So… this was also SO easy to make! I applied a thin layer of PVA glue on the top of the cup, sprinkled some glitter on and left to dry! Then.. half fill it with craft beads.. and hairspray the glitter! Arrange your favourite products as you like.. and there you have a Disney inspired holder for all your lipsticks!

SAM_4145

Pretty Photo Frames – GREAT storage for your perfumes/everyday makeup!♥

This is one of my favourite projects to do because I think the end result is absolutely stunning.. and they add a real “luxury” feel to your makeup storage! So.. get your photo frames and remove the glass so you are just left with the wooden bit! All I did with mine was spray paint them and sprinkle glitter all over! Once they had dried.. I put some pretty paper in the frame (where you would normally put your picture).. and then used them as pretty makeup trays!! You can do SO MUCH with these and really customize them.. give it a go loves!

Nail Polish Holder♥

I found this glass tray with a lid from a charity shop – I think it is actually a small oven dish (hehe!). This was SO easy to make too… I just sprayed the bottom with the silver paint, and for the lid.. I put PVA glue over it and sprinkled glitter on it! Once it had dried.. I hot glued a small drawer handle onto it so I could open it easily! And.. it is done! You have an ADORABLE little tray with a lid… perfect for lipsticks or nail polishes!

SAM_4159

Beauty Box♥

Now.. It is SO easy to make shoe boxes look pretty AND they make FAB storage for the inside of your drawers! All I did with mine was spray paint it white (you can glue some pretty paper on it if you want!).. then made little compartments by cutting up the lid of the box and sizing them up to make the sizes I wanted! I glued some pretty paper on the bottom of the box and also on the sides… then hot glued them to they were secure! You can make SO many of these so all your drawers are organized.. everyone has boxes/cardboard lying around.. you may as well make the most of them hehe!

SAM_4150

So lovelies… there you have some inspiration to use up your old jars/boxes AND make your room/dressing table look pretty, organized and ALL SET FOR SPRING! Should we see how it all looked?

SAM_4164SAM_4179SAM_4180SAM_4184SAM_4185

Quick secret though guys… this set up is in my mum’s room (it has the best lighting hehe!!)… as my room is RUBBISH for taking pictures!! I LOVE the look of everything though! I would LOVE to know what you think AND also if you have a go at making some!

So angels… I hope you enjoyed this…. make sure to leave me a comment to let me know if you give any a go!

Right darlings.. let’s have a quick catch up before I go ey? I am SO ready for Spring.. so be prepared to see some Spring outfits AND my make-up faves for this season! Also… let me know if you have any Spring trends you are looking forward to! I am hoping to buy a few essentials for Spring so will definitely put up a haul post once I do! Also.. guess what angels? I have A WEEK OFF WORK NEXT WEEK (Easter week).. so that literally means a week of relaxing, blogging, getting myself organized AND just everything I don’t have time to do when I am at work! Cannot wait WOOP!

I am going to love you and leave you know lovelies.. so have a wonderful week and I will see you in my next one!!

Lots of Love,

Excited for SPRING♥

Hello darlings!!!♥

How have you all been?! Hope you have had a wonderful week so far!! I felt SO OVERWHELMED with everything at the beginning of the week .. I feel like I have SO much going on.. and just not enough time to do it all!! HOWEVER.. that is where my trusty little diary came in handy .. it helped me SO much in just organizing my life! I LOVE IT.. if you don’t already have one.. GET ONE!

So… I am literally SO SO EXCITED for this post. Now.. if you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know I am one of the (VERY) few people who actually doesn’t mind winter. I LOVE snow, cosy, dark evenings, the fashion AND the make-up. However… I think I am getting SLIGHTLY bored of all the wintery-ness, and JUST WANT IT TO BE SPRING!! I mean COME ONE LOVES… lighter evenings, warmer afternoons, leaves/flowers growing back again, baby animals being born (yes, this is cheesy I know BUT I LOVE ANIMALS!), and not forgetting EASTER IS EARLY THIS YEAR!! So what does that mean? LOTS of chocolate and FOUR DAY WEEKENDS WOOP!

Right .. are we all feeling slightly exciting for Spring? I know I am!! Lets have a look and see what I am MOST excited for!!

Spring Fashion♥

I LOVE winter fashion SO much .. BUT I have been seeing all the spring clothes in the shops .. and all I see is PASTELS AND FLORALS EVERYWHERE! You will all know I am such a massive lover of wearing black, however there is just something SO special about wearing florals/pastels!! Have a peek below for some examples of my PERFECT outfits for spring time!

Both of these were actually inspired by the STUNNING bag* I received from LYDC London.. this company just seem to have a bag for every single moment in my life. I LOVE them so much!! Make sure to check them out if you are ever on the hunt for a bag.. they have their new Spring/Summer range out … and it is AMAZING! If you fancy an extra 10% off, you can use my code “SAIRA10”. I would also LOVE to know if you check them out .. so make sure to comment and let me know angels!

Denim & Pastel Jumpers – PERFECT for Daytime♥

Jumper and GiletMore Detail Jumper and Gilet

Oh.. well would you look at that lovelies .. I am still layering in Spring (haha!). If you live in the UK, you will know that we still get chilly days… so layering is pretty essential! I actually picked up both the denim gilet and jumper from a CHARITY SHOP (want some Charity Shop shopping tips?.. I have a whole post on it HERE!). This outfit would be SO perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring.. it would keep you SO cosy, yet still have a touch of spring with the denim and pastel colours. The bag just does a perfect job in completing the outfit and making it SPRING TIME READY WOO!

Lace & LOTS OF RINGS – PERFECT for Evening♥

Another Image of DressClose Up

I have been wanting to style this cream dress from H&M for the LONGEST time ever.. but didn’t think it would look right during the colder months .. it just has SUCH a Spring vibe to it.. don’t you think? It would be PERFECT for an evening out.. I would personally accessorize with a LOT of rings (all my rings are quite old and from VARIOUS PLACES!), a bright nail polish and the BEAUTIFUL bag! I think lace always looks so gorgeous during the warmer months – I also find myself going for a more “bohemian” style .. so dresses like this with plenty of rings and cross body bags are PERFECT for me!

LADY OF THE RINGS♥

RingsMore Rings

I don’t know if I am the only one who avoids jewelry in winter .. I think because it is SO cold my hands are covered all the time anyway (haha!). In Spring/Summer.. I LOVE to wear as many rings as possible ..  I think they add such a lovely, bohemian, girly look to an outfit! I am definitely excited to start wearing them again! Be prepared to see them in my OOTD posts loves!

Fruity Perfumes & Bright Nails♥

Perfume.jpg

Now..  I never used to be the type of girl who swapped her perfumes round based on the seasons. HOWEVER… I have recently started too!!! I LOVE more fruitier, fresh scents for Spring time, whereas I leave sweeter, more stronger scents for winter time. SO .. I have been LOVING Juicy Couture’s “Viva La Juicy” recently.. I mean just LOOK at the bottle angels!! The notes include berries, mandarins, honey suckle and gardenia .. sounds perfect for this time of year right loves!! The bottle is SURE to brighten up ANYONE’S day too!

Perfume and Nail Polish.jpg

Ohhh … bright nail polish!! Again … I LOVE bright nails for Spring … for exactly the same reason I love wearing rings.. Our hands are on show more and not wrapped up in gloves/long sleeves hehe!! Barry M have some FABULOUS colours.. and they are SO affordable! I HIGHLY recommend them lovelies.. you will ADORE them!! OH.. and nothing beats nude nails … I LOVE these at any time of the year!

Pink Lips♥

Bright Lipsticks

Well… if you guys know me .. you will know that I recently braved dark lipsticks – and was absolutely OBSESSED with them during winter… but I am not sure how “fitting” they will be for Spring! So.. it is time to bring out the GORGEOUS pale pinks, nudes AND hot pinks!! Wooo… my FAVE nudey-pink is Mac Creme Cup .. I LOVE the formula too .. it is SO creamy and moisturizing! I also LOVE the Maybelline Baby Lips – they feel SO AMAZING on the lips .. and JUST LOOK HOW ADORABLE THE PACKAGING IS! My other fave lipsticks include Rimmel’s Pink Blush & Bourjois Rouge Edition Fushcia.

Lipsticks

So angels .. there we have a few things that have got me SO EXCITED FOR SPRING! I think I am just so looking forward to having MORE daylight! Not to mention how much more COLOURFUL everything is!

Should we have a quick overview of what there is to look forward to loves?

  • Lighter mornings/evenings
  • MORE light = more time to take blog photos!
  • Everything just comes ALIVE again (ha!) – trees/flowers/plants!
  • SPRING FASHION – I don’t have to say ANYMORE!
  • SO MANY Bank holidays!
  • It becomes acceptable to have milkshakes/slushies instead of hot chocolate. Ohh… not forgetting ice-cream too 😛
  • NO MORE DE-ICING THE CAR
  • Easter – the BEST excuse to eat LOTS OF CHOCOLATE!
  • SUMMER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

I CANNOT WAIT FOR SPRING LOVES! What is your fave season? Make sure to let me know!

Cannot WAIT for my next few posts.. I have SO much lined up… I just need MORE time hehe!! I hope you liked this post darlings .. and it helped to get rid of your winter blues and HAS YOU EXCITED FOR SPRING TIME! YAY!! See you in my next post loves!

Lots of Love,

Saira

Let’s Travel to: Whitby♥

Happy Sunday Lovelies!

Hope you have all had an AMAZING weekend! If you follow my Twitter/read my blog .. you will know that I actually got my marriage registered this weekend (EEEEEEK!). It really was SUCH an amazing day … and it feels weird thinking that I am now a Mrs…my little brother said I am now officially old (wonderful ha!).

The last week at work just FLEW BY! I cannot get over how quickly Friday came round! I sometimes can’t believe how fast days just pass you by .. this is why I try and make the most of each of them! This was one of the reasons we took a last minute trip to Whitby last weekend! Anyway loves .. have a read on and I ‘ll tell you all about my trip there!

RIGHT ….. so my and my family were all just sat downstairs on New Year’s day .. when my husband actually came up with the idea of going to stay in a cottage for the weekend.. it really was a pretty random and last minute trip! We searched the internet and found a few cottages that had places for the next day … and the next morning my dad received a call that a cottage in Whitby was available with enough room for 8 of us (and a baby!)… so we loaded the cars with everything we needed.. and off we went!

It took around 2 hours to get there … and the cottage itself was AMAZING! I was kicking myself that I didn’t bring more outfits so I could take pictures.. as the background was STUNNING! Anyway loves.. speaking of outfits.. I will show you what I wore on the first day!

Now… we already knew the weather would be cold/windy/rainy… so my outfits were focused on keeping warm. I ALWAYS layer like a crazy .. as well as having an umbrella on me all the time (and it DEFINITELY came on handy on this trip hehe!).

SAM_3038

So here was my outfit for the first day loves….

SAM_2995SAM_2996SAM_2998SAM_2999SAM_3003SAM_3004SAM_3008SAM_3009

You have probably seen every single piece of clothing in other OOTD’s too ha! The tartan scarf and top are both from Primark and get SO MUCH WEAR! The over-sized black blazer is New Look .. but of course you can pick these up ANYWHERE. My boots are very old, and have now become my “walking boots”… they are SO comfortable and also kept my feet dry whilst walking on the beach! Of course… to add something to the look.. I added Rimmel’s 107, as you do :P. My bag is also from LYDC London (you have all seen it before too!)… it is just amazing at fitting everything that I need in AND keeping it organized (woop!).

Saturday♥:

So on our first day ….. we settled into the cottage, then went out to pick up snacks from the local Sainsburys, which was SO handy as it was only 2 minutes down the road! We then drove down to the marina and walked around the shops, picked up some fish and chips for dinner (how could we not!!).. and then headed back to the cottage! After… we played a few games .. and then as it got past midnight, my husband suggested we go out for a drive around Whitby. Now.. I don’t know if you have ever been.. but I found there was something SO EERIE about the whole place at night. The cottage that we were staying at was in the middle of nowhere, so it was TERRIFYING to go out alone when it was dark. The roads were SO QUIET and the Abbey looked SO creepy…. I can definitely see why so many people come here at Halloween! Anyways .. after our scary drive.. we came home and fell straight asleep!

Sunday♥:

On Sunday … we all had breakfast together, before going to see all the chickens that the landowner had in his gardens! My little niece is the biggest animal lover EVER.. so she definitely enjoyed this bit! Then we cleaned the cottage, packed our things up .. and headed to the beach! The beach at this time of year was FREEZING as you can imagine… but we still had lots of fun! We then drove over the marina again and stopped to get some fresh doughnuts/waffles, and then also drove up to the Abbey (which wasn’t as creepy during the day!). After, it was time to head back home… we stopped at York on the way for some food … as we were all starving by that time!

Quick look at the outfit for Sunday .. if you notice all I actually did was change the top HA! I did pack another cardigan, but didn’t like how it looked… so I stuck to my trusty blazer! I LOVED how comfortable I felt in both these outfits..  and think that this is the most important thing when you know you’re going to be doing lots of walking outside.

SAM_3016SAM_3018SAM_3021SAM_3029SAM_3042SAM_3043SAM_3045

After stopping at York.. it took around an hour to get home.. we then unpacked, went to sleep.. and were all up for work on Monday ! PHEW … busy weekend ey!

So lovelies.. that was my overnight stay in Whitby! I am such a HUGE lover of last minute, spontaneous trips.. they make such great memories too! I definitely recommend staying in a cottage for a few days .. it is so nice to get away from life in the city and just have a few relaxing days, especially after the busy festive period!

Soooo … what am I doing for the rest of the day?I will be spending my Sunday writing up some posts, doing my laundry and just CHILLING out in my PJ’S before work tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed this little insight into my trip angels.. and do let me know if you have ever been to Whitby!

Have a fab Sunday … and I will catch you all in my next post!

Well hello there angels!!♥

Gosh.. I honestly feel like it has been SUCH a long time since I have just sat down and TALKED to you all. My past few posts have been all about my little blog/tips for bloggers and beauty faves! I have definitely missed just siting down and CHATTING! I also thought I would incorporate my FAVE outfits of 2015 from my blog in this too. BUT FIRST… CATCH UPS WITH YOU ALL! So I suggest you grab a cuppa and read on ….

Soo.. I hope you all had a fabulous start to the year. I actually spent the weekend before going back to work on a last minute trip to a cottage in Whitby which was gorgeous and SO RELAXING. I will put up a separate post on this with pictures and outfits … so stay tuned for that! Then it was back to work.. which can I just say was SO BUSY. The first day back I was actually on my own and SO BOGGED DOWN with work….. it was crazy. Tuesday was just as busy too… and I know the rest of the week is going to be the same! I actually have booked Friday off as my “getting ready” day for my marriage registration on Saturday (eeeeeeek!). I am SO excited for it…. me and my hubby actually got married two years ago in our “Islamic” ceremony.. and we wanted to wait until after he graduated from University to get registered! We’ve booked a restaurant too for the “after party” .. so it should be a really lovely day!

Anyways … onto talking about my blog.. I have written up a schedule for how often I want to post/what I will be putting up etc.. just to give my blog some structure and also to fit it in better with my work life. I am also in love with the bag which was gifted to me from LYDC London (eeeeek… still cannot believe I was given the opportunity to pick a bag from their range.. it is stunning!)

Evening Out OOTD

SAM_2875I adore this outfit as it is a typical “going out” one for me.. I don’t really wear a lot of colour or sparkly things when I go out.. I normally keep it quite basic and add a little bit more make up! I LOVE the shirt which I picked up for an absolute BARGAIN from a market .. if you know me you will know I am a savvy little shopper who loves her bargains 😛

Kittens Kittens Kittens

Blog Achievements & Goals for 2016♥

Hey my angels!♥

Can I just start my saying my last post was my 50th one!! Eeeeeek! I CANNOT believe that I have posted THAT much since October (when I started blogging!). Funnily enough this post is actually about what I have achieved with my blog too! Lets first have a quick catch up, ey? I have a cuppa with me, and I’m in my PJ’s (as usual)… and cannot wait to blog guys!

So… hope you all had a FAB Christmas (HOW does it seem SO long ago?!).. and are getting ready for the new year! I am now off work for 4 days too.. so will have plenty of time to get myself organized for 2016! I will also be popping into town tomorrow to buy myself my 2016 planner/diary .. if you read my latest post HERE, you will know this is essential for having a great start to the year!

Anyway loves .. let’s get on with this post! Now… I have seen SO many bloggers do these, and I honestly think it is SUCH a good idea.. I am a huge believer than any achievement should be celebrated, no matter how big or small it is. I have only been blogging for around 4 months, but I am already SO proud of what my little baby has achieved (YES .. I call my blog my baby .. and I know a lot of you do too ha!). Now.. I am not one to be focused ONLY on numbers .. but I have been SO SHOCKED by the views/followers on my blog/social media recently! It really does make you feel quite proud and motivates you to make your blog better!!

So.. a quick overview of what I have achieved so far!♥

Blog / Blog Lovin’♥

Now … I cannot believe how many followers I have when I combine my blog & Blog Lovin’ since I started … I have over 300 followers (eeekk!!). I know this may not seem like many to some people .. BUT I AM SO PROUD! I never even thought I would reach over 100 by the end of the year! I just can’t believe there are over 300 of you who took the time out to follow me and read my ramblings! Lots of love to you all!!

Link to my Blog Lovin’♥

Social Media♥

My followers on Twitter are definitely the biggest shock to me because I did not think I would have even reached half the followers I have by the end of the year! But guys … I have over 850 followers! That is crazy!! I love Twitter SO much because it gives you instant access to interact with so many bloggers, as well as promoting your blog and interacting with brands! I also get the most traffic from Twitter too .. I don’t think I ever go longer than a few hours without checking my Twitter! I also LOVE Instagram .. and have almost 500 followers on there (eeeek!).. I think my biggest achievement on Instagram was having an OOTD of mine being featured on a popular hijabi fashion page … I felt so privileged hehe!

Instagram

Getting To Know Other Bloggers♥

I am not sure if this is really an achievement- but more something that blogging as helped me with.. and that is interacting with SO many AMAZING girls who all have the same interests as me. I have met some of the nicest, kindest, funniest most genuine girls online ever … I literally feel like I know you so well! You are ALL my blogging babies .. and my journey through blogging would not be the same without you all! I also LOVE taking part in Twitter chats because it is such a good way to get to know other bloggers!

Working With Brands♥

When I started blogging, I didn’t think I would have been given the opportunity to work with brands as quickly as I did .. but OH MY when I got that first email from a company .. I WAS SO EXCITED! Of course.. I would never just say “yes” to any company .. I know you probably read this all the time .. but I would never feature anything on my blog that was not relevant or that I didn’t love! I would just not waste my time (hehe!). I (personally) think working with brands is such an excellent opportunity for bloggers … but it is so important to not lose touch with your readers and ONLY focus on free gifts!

I had the opportunity to work alongside Coconut Lane (my post HERE with more information) and LYDC London (posts also HERE & HERE). Both these brands are absolutely FAB … and the ladies I spoke to were the nicest people EVER .. I literally got on SO well with them (AND keep in touch with them too!).

Developing a Relationship With My Readers♥

I think interacting with your readers is the most important thing in blogging .. and I LOVE commenting back and giving/receiving advice from my readers! I notice you little babes who always comment on my blog and I WANT TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO COMMENT.. I have SO much love for you!♥

Phew!! I definitely think that is a lot to achieve in four months .. can you guys now see why I am so excited for the next year? I am SO happy that I started blogging .. literally one of THE best decisions I have ever made! So lovelies .. should we see a few of my goals that I have for 2016?

♥Goals♥

Attend Blogger Meet Ups/Events – This is probably one of the biggest goals I have … after developing some fantastic relationships with bloggers, I would LOVE to go to a meet up! I already LOVE interacting with you girlies through social media .. so IMAGINE IF WE GOT TO MEET?!

Improve Photography – For now, I am using my little Samsung camera.. but I want to buy a better camera for my blog photos… I think it will make SUCH a huge difference. I told myself that I would only invest in a new camera if I was serious about blogging (which I am haha!).. I just have to figure out which one I want!

More Beauty/Lifestyle Posts – My blog originally focused quite a lot on fashion … but I definitely want to have more beauty/lifestyle posts! This does not mean I won’t be putting up fashion posts .. they are still one of my FAVES to put up/take photos for!

Work With More Brands – I would LOVE to be given the opportunity to work with more brands… Simply because I love networking with other bloggers and companies! It is such a FAB way to introduce my lovely readers, family & friends to products/companies they may not have heard of!

Improve My Blog Layout/Brand – I am SO BAD at anything technical with my blog .. but I definitely want to learn the basics and improve my blog’s layout and design .. I really want to make it SO much more creative and personal! I will be making plenty of notes in my blogging notebook too .. so watch this space lovelies 😛

cropped-cropped-through-the-glitter-glass-header1.jpg

So loves … that is a quick overview of what I want to achieve with my blog in the new year .. of course there are SO MANY MORE opportunities I could be given (hopefully ha!) .. So this is a brief overview of the goals I have .. but you never know what could happen angels!! Also, you may notice I do not have any specific numbers… simply because I honestly do not know what to put!! I have no idea how my blog will grow .. all I know is that I am going to be putting SO MUCH effort to making it the best it can possibly be .. and I really hope you join me on my journey!

Sooo much love for you all! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all SO MUCH for following and supporting me… You are all ANGELS and your comments/support mean the absolute world to me! Hopefully I will see you in the new year? Should we see where my blog goes in 2016? Eeeeek .. SO EXCITED FOR THE FUTURE (as you can probably tell ha!!)

LOTS OF LOVE SWEETIE PIES!!!

How to: Perfect Christmassy Afternoon♥

Hi my lovelies!

Hope you have all had an amazing weekend! I woke up to no rain today (YAY)… meaning I can take my outfit pictures!! I have also been a little busy this weekend organizing our registry office “wedding”… Me and my hubby have already had our “main” wedding day and our Nikkah done (the Islamic ceremony of marriage).. but we are just not registered yet.. so we will be having that done in January next year! Very exciting times!

Anyway….. I HAVE A VERY FESTIVE POST FOR YOU. I have been planning this post for SO long and am so excited to finally put it up! It is how to have the PERFECT Christmassy afternoon/evening, with festive themed baking, drinks, baths and pamper ideas! It is the perfect afternoon to have in the run up to Christmas, especially on a weekend! Eeeeek I am literally so exciting for you to see this post … And I really hope you try the ideas!

So, put aside a few hours, get some Christmas music playing, and lets have the PERFECT CHRISTMASSY AFTERNOON!

SAM_2720

The first thing that I think is SO MUCH FUN at this time of year is to do some BAKING! I am not a huge fan of mince pies (wish I was though!).. so I tend to avoid baking things with fruit in them.. I am however a HUGE fan of any vanilla/chocolate cupcakes! I thought I would make some standard vanilla cupcakes, but make it festive with different types of frosting and decoration. I also added some sprinkles into the cake mix (hehe!)

Recipe for Cupcakes:

Makes 24

  • 225g Butter (softened)
  • 225g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 225g Self-Raising Flour
  • 5 tbsp Milk
  • Sprinkles (optional) – as many as you want!
  • Lots of Christmassy sprinkles/decorations

SAM_2787

Method:

Put 24 red cake cases in muffin pans

Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC/Gas Mark 4. Put the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. Then, add one egg at a time, beating the mixture well after each one. Sift the flour in and fold into the mixture with the milk. If you want to, add the sprinkles in at this stage and mix well. Then, spoon the mixture into the 24 paper cases. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until well risen. Put onto a wire rack and leave to cool for at leas 20 minutes.

SAM_2789SAM_2791SAM_2735

Frosting!

Now, I actually had 4 differant types of frosting. I firstly made some basic buttercream frosting:

Ingredients:

  • 175g Unsalted Buteer
  • 350g Icing Sugar
  • Milk (if required) 1-2tsps

Method:

Put the butter in a bowl and beat until fluffy. Sift the icing sugar in and beat together until it is well mixed. If the frosting is quite thick, add in the milk. Separate into 3 bowls

Peppermint Frosting:

Add 2 candy canes (crushed) into the frosting (make sure they are TINY.. if the pieces are too big, you will NOT be able to pipe (TRUST ME IT HAPPENED TO ME!). Put the frosting into a piping bag and use a medium star-shaped nozzle. Pipe onto the cupcakes and sprinkle more crushed candy canes on top!

SAM_2800

Cinnamon Frosting:

Sprinkle a TINY amount of cinnamon into the frosting and mix well. Put in the piping bag and pipe the frosting on. Then, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar (sugar mixed with cinnamon) onto the top of the cupcake, and then place some edible gingerbread men on the top! I LOVE THESE! The gingerbread men are from TK Maxx and they are the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

SAM_2796

Chocolate Frosting

Add 2 tbsp of cocoa powder to the frosting and mix well. Add to the piping bag and pipe onto the cakes. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on some, and add the edible sugar decorations on others. Then, sift some icing sugar on the top to make it look like snow! ADORABLE!

Green Frosting

I cheated as this was ready made hehe! Just pipe it onto the cupcakes and add the edible sugar decorations on them.

SAM_2811

So there you have it! Vanilla cupcakes with different types of frosting .. these are just some examples that you can try but there really are so many variations .. so get creative my loves! YOU WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

SAM_2819

Wow.. I bet all that baking tired you out! What better thing to do than have a… LUSH BATH!♥ Before we start to run our bath, I want to show you how you can make the yummiest smelling body scrub EVER! It is so perfect for this time of year.. as it is a WHIPPED GINGERBREAD SCRUB!

HOW TO: Whipped Gingerbread Scrub

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of demera sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • Gingerbread sprinkles

IMG_7173

Put the sugars and oil in a bowl, and use an electric whisk until it is a whipped consistency. Add the spices, ginger and vanilla and whisk until they are blended in. Add to a cute jar, top with little gingerbread sprinkles… and you’re done! All set to use during your bath!

IMG_7177

Quick disclaimer: as this scrub has cinnamon and nutmeg (spices), it may irritate those with sensitive skin. I recommend ALWAYS doing a patch test, with ANY homemade scrub.. I also WOULD NOT recommend this one for your face lovelies.. I think you can guess why :P. If you want some DIY masks that are gentler, have a read of my blog post HERE

 Lush Bath♥

YES.. you knew this would be fitted into our Christmassy afternoon :D. You know the drill guys… lots of candles, face masks, scrubs and some magazines! My FAVOURITE bath bombs to use are Yog Nog and Lord of Misrule.. but you can use WHICHEVER ones you like angels!

IMG_7002

Bet your’re feeling pretty good after your bath right! Now it’s time to put on your coziest PJ’s and make a hot chocolate (check out my blog post HERE for some yummy ideas!)

It is now time to relax… you can put some Christmas movies on and start to wrap your presents!

SAM_2823

That is how you can have the perfect Christmassy afternoon! I can guarantee you will feel very festive after this, and definitely excited for Christmas. I really hoped you enjoyed this post angels… and let me know if you try the cupcakes and scrub! I think the scrub can also make a great DIY gift… I just cannot get over how gorgeous it smells!

Let me know what you thought of this post lovelies! I will see you in my next one!

Lots of Love

Guide to: Surviving Christmas Shopping!

Hey darlings♥♥!

Hope you have all had an excellent week… It is the weekend too woo! Now, I have seen so many people start to put Christmas posts up… come on guys it is mid-November now so I think it is acceptable! Now, I know many of you may be thinking about Christmas shopping (and some of you organised lot may have started!)… I thought I would give you all some tips on how you can make Christmas shopping a fun, (almost) stress-free day (or days!) out…. It should be enjoyable right?!

SAM_2313

  1. Make a list beforehand: I am the biggest fan of making lists, as they really help you stay organised.. and when it comes to Christmas shopping, they will be a saviour! It is also best to make a list of everyone you are buying gifts for, and what you plan on getting them. That way, you can make sure you do not leave anyone’s gift to the last minute! I think it is an excellent idea to have a “Christmas Diary”, that way you can plan what days you are doing Christmas shopping, and make any other lists/notes you may need .. rather than writing it on scrappy bits of paper/typing on your phone.
  2. Plan your trip: You should put aside a weekend/few days to get your shopping done, so you can get a lot done in one go. I think it is still fun to pop into town for some last minute bits closer to Christmas, but knowing that you have already done the majority of your shopping will make it even more fun! Also, if you work full-time (like me), it may be worth taking a few days off work so you can go during the week.. as I am sure everyone knows weekends are always busier!
  3. GO EARLY!!: I literally cannot stress this enough .. make sure you go early! Especially if you go during the week, the earlier you go the better. The shops will be lovely and organised, as well as it not being as busy! After you are all shopped out, you still have the rest of the day to relax/wrap presents!
  4. Make sure you go to a DECENT shopping centre: This is also so important. It is worth travelling out if there is not a good shopping centre near you, as it is good having a variety of shops to visit. This also saves you having to make multiple trips! I know this from first hand experience .. The main shopping centre near me is RUBBISH! I always go to either Leeds, Manchester or Sheffield for a good shopping trip.. there is SO much more variety, the shops are bigger, and there are also cute individual shops where can find something special!
  5. Go alone: This is vital for at least your main Christmas shop.. It means you can visit the shops YOU need to, take all the time YOU need, and not have to worry about what kids/friends/family want to do or where they want to go. If you do want to make a day of it with a friend/family member, you can travel together, shop for a few hours on your own, have lunch together, then do a few more hours alone, and then meet up after!
  6. Buy heavier/biggest items last/online: Now I think this is a no brainer, not just for Christmas shopping but also normal shopping trips. Buy your bigger/bulkier/heavier gifts last, so you are not battling with them on your way through the shops! Even better, buy them online, or reserve them so you are able to pick them up at a certain time! Christmas shopping is supposed to be FUN, not a sweaty work out! 😛
  7. Buy yourself a treat after!: After you have trawled round the shops for HOURS, carried so many bags that your arms feel like they are going to fall off, it is always nice to have a treat after! So my advice is to pick a little something up for yourself whilst shopping … you deserve it! Whether that is a candle (that you can burn whilst wrapping presents), some bath bombs/bubble bars, or some good old chocolate… go on… you know you want to!
  8. Remember.. ENJOY IT!: Enjoy the Christmas lights/decorations, the atmosphere, and the yummy Christmas treats everywhere! Try not to leave everything to the last minute, and make a day of it! So lovelies, be up nice and early, wear your comfiest shoes, make sure you have your Christmas gift guide all ready, play Christmas songs on the way to the shops .. and HAVE FUN CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!
  9. If all else fails.. there is always online: If you do not like the thought of shopping at all (really?)… you can always shop online!

Happy Shopping!

So there we have it darlings … your guide to stress-free (hopefully!) Christmas shopping! I hope this will help lots of you ready to venture out to the shops to buy your presents! I will see you in my next post!

Lots of Love,

Saira xo

Birds in Bolton

Evening loves!

How has your week been? Hope you have had a good one! I have had a busy few days .. and honestly cannot wait for the weekend now.. two days of lazing around in my PJ’s! The past few days I have been at work, and then had a few quick trips to the new shopping centre to pick up some make up items I needed.. Which include a new BERRY TONED lipstick (Yes I finally got one), and the best smelling hand cream 🙂 .. all of which will be blogged about soon!

So this blog post will feature some new items that I showed in my previous post.. the beautiful dress from H&M and the gorgeous brown boots from Primark! Now I actually saw this dress a few weeks back in H&M, and I fell in love instantly.. but they didn’t have my size (boo!). As soon as I saw it this weekend, I grabbed it :D. I had the perfect outfit in my head: featuring the dress, my fur gilet, warm black tights, brown boots/brogues and a navy hijab!

SAM_2321 SAM_2327 SAM_2335

I love how this dress looks on, and the fact that it has long sleeves too, meaning I don’t have to wear a cardigan over, or a long sleeve top underneath :). I have also just been loving wearing my fur gilet over EVERYTHING, so of course this had to be worn :D. I thought I would break the outfit up a little with some brown boots, rather than black. The navy hijab was also perfect with this look, and just tied it all together. I wore Rimmel 107 on my lips, and my usual make up!

I wore this outfit on Sunday .. when we actually went to Bolton for the day! It was just a last minute thing, but we ended up having a lovely time :). We went to a local museum, and then got some food! Now, speaking of food… the amount of crappy food I had this weekend was RIDICULOUS. I am normally good on the weekends, and treat myself to one takeaway, however this weekend I had FOUR takeways (eeeek!). I am having a detox this week though :P.

SAM_2340 SAM_2342 SAM_2345 SAM_2346

The museum was so much fun! It actually had an aquarium and a library in it too :). I love visiting museums in different cities.. I feel like you can learn so much from them… they really are not as boring as some people may think (hehe ;P).. you should try spending an afternoon in one .. you might be surprised :D.SAM_2352 SAM_2354

So there is my outfit for the day.. I am so in love with this dress, and will be going back to H&M to see if they have more prints! It was an absolute bargain at £14.99 too! This outfit is a great Autumn/Winter outfit .. I wore a long sleeved top underneath as I didn’t wear a coat.. so wanted to make sure I stayed warm.

I hope you like this outfit lovelies! Now, I just wanted to update you all on what has been happening with me (I really feel like my blog posts are a diary!).. I am in the process of (hopefully) getting a new car! If all goes well.. I should have it in the next few weeks.. which I am so excited about! Also, I am SO excited for I’m  a Celebrity to start .. please tell me someone else watches this?! I also am loving getting to know so many other bloggers through Twitter chats .. I find them so much fun and think it is such a good way to network! I am also going to be buying a new camera soon .. Mine just about does the job, but it is starting to get unresponsive :(. I said to myself if I am serious about blogging, then I will invest in a new camera.. so will do my research and get some recommendations from all you lovely lot!

I think that is enough of an update .. I just want to thank all you wonderful people for following my blog, taking the time out to read it, and leaving me such lovely comments. I feel so happy when I read them everyday, and honestly wish I could meet every single one of you! I also love seeing familiar names on my blog, Twitter and Instagram :). Make sure you are following me on there loves! My details are below:

~Shawls, Shirts & Starbucks~

Hi lovelies!

Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday (and for those of you in the UK, do not feel too strange with the clocks going back)! I have just been doing household chores, and getting some ideas for an up and coming blog post (which I cannot wait to share with you – really hope you like it!)

Anyway, I took some outfit pictures yesterday of a shawl featured in a previous post – as the lighting was rubbish, so you could not really see the outfit properly! I went shopping to a designer outlet in Wakefield yesterday, as it was my mum’s birthday, and that is on of her favourite places to shop! In the evening, we went out to eat, and on the way home picked up some Krispy Kreme doughnuts (yummy). I always find that I treat myself on the weekends A LOT (foodwise) – Anybody else do the same? I hope it is not just me :P.

So.. lets get on to the outfit ….

SAM_1949 SAM_1956 SAM_1957 SAM_1960

By the way …. It was FREEZING yesterday … you definitely felt like it was October. This shawl really kept me cozy though. I love that it is so big, so I could keep my hands warm (which my Hazelnut Hot Chocolate from Starbucks also helped with :D). I love that it is getting colder though … I cannot wait to start wearing gloves again! (I will of course crochet myself a pair :P). SAM_1962 SAM_1965 SAM_1970

For the rest of my outfit, I kept it pretty basic, as I wanted the focus to be on the shawl. I wore an oversized blue shirt, black jeggings and black ankle boots. I also just kept it simple with a black hijab and red lips :). SAM_1974

How CUTE is this Halloween display in one of the sweet shops ? I had to take a photo of it :). SAM_1976 SAM_1982 SAM_1984

So there we have it .. My very warm, cozy outfit, perfect for Autumn! I think shawls like this will be perfect for upcoming bonfire nights, as you can really wrap up in it! I want to get a black one (obviously), which I will be able to wear with more or less everything. You should really pick one of these up, they are so comfortable and easy to wear – and I have seen them in SO many places. As I mentioned before, mine is from Matalan, and only cost me £12… they also have quite a few other styles/prints.

My shirt is an oldie from H&M, but again, you can find this in any high street store. Jeggings are my beloved ones from the market, Hijab is also from a market :). My boots are Primark (you should be able to find them in your local one), and my fur scarf is New Look (Again, they are doing these everywhere this season, so you will be able to find one.)

There we have it … I LOVED this outfit so much, and wore it in the evening too (well, I did swap my shirt to an over-sized jumper). I definitely suggest you all go pick up one of these shawls… It is like having a blanket wrapped around you all day 🙂

So… I am now going to spend the rest of the day chilling out, planning blog posts, taking some outfit pictures, and catching up on everyone’s social media/blogs!

Have a good one my loves, and see you in my next post 😀

Love,

Saira xo

Let’s Get Happy!

Evening darlings!

Happiness-Is...header

Here I am with another tag – this the “50 things that make me happy” tag :D. I was tagged by the beautiful @wanderingpaige on twitter (she has a blog too – http://www.wanderthroughpaiges.wordpress.com) – have a read – she is an absolute BABE. I loved reading through her things, and it really made me wander about all the things in my life that make me happy! Lets go 😀

  1. My husband – this was the first thing that came to my mind. He has been my best friend for almost 7 years, and 2 years ago he became my husband. Getting to spend every single day with this man makes me the happiest girl ever (Ahhh I know I am getting cheesy here!)
  2. Blogging – I look forward to blogging/catching up on blogs every single day, and it makes me so happy to be able to log on after work and interact with so many of you I have come across in this blogging community!
  3. Tea – I have just had a lovely cuppa, and it makes me feel so relaxed and warm on a cold evening
  4. Speaking of tea – hot chocolate also makes me very happy 🙂
  5. Reading lovely comments on my blog/Instagram – you guys are honestly the best and make me smile everyday 🙂
  6. Blankets – My life would not be complete without fuzzy blankets – nothing makes me happier that cuddling in one after a long day at work
  7. Kittens – If my old work buddies read this, they will know the obsession I had with kittens, and how happy they make me! Just google kittens, and I can guarantee you will be smiling 🙂
  8. Watching the sun rise/set – I find this so relaxing and I recently watched the sunrise on the beach – and nothing beat how happy I felt that morning!

  11. Lush baths – these are the BEST on a cold evening
  12. Seeing the people I love getting what they want/dream of in life – Seeing my husband graduate (after 5 years of hard work) was probably one of the happiest moments in my life EVER
  13. Exploring new places – Whether it is a new city or a new country park – I love discovering new places,
  14. My job – For a few years, I wasn’t happy in the job I had, but recently I have started working in HR, and it actually makes me happy to wake up every morning and go to work. I no longer suffer from “Sunday night blues” – I think it is so important to have a job that makes you happy, not one that has you counting down the hours until home time!
  15. Heeled boots – These babies make me so happy – being a short girl, I do like heels. Unfortunately I am such a bad heel wearer, but heeled boots have solved this problem – they are SO comfortable to wear all day, and look amazing!
  16. Sleeping – I love sleep. That is all.
  17. Autumn – It is my favourite season, and everything about it makes me so happy
  18. Krispy Kreme doughnuts – Every time I have one of these – it makes me so happy. I always stick to the “original” glazed ones though.
  19. Family – My family are so supportive of what I do, and I really do not know where I would be without them
  20. Fresh bed sheets – The feeling of snuggling into bed when you have fresh sheets – it has me smiling just thinking about it 🙂
  21. Looking at old photos – I LOVE looking at old photos, and the memories that they bring back
  22. Music – I love listening to music on my way to work – I have my playlist on shuffle – and when an old favourite comes on – Memories just come back and have me smiling! I think it is so amazing how music can just take you back to a special moment in your life.
  23. Laughing – This may sound obvious – but it makes me so happy when you have those people in your life that can make you laugh until you cry
  24. Candles – Having a candle burning (especially at this time of year) makes me so happy! It gives such a relaxing feel to any room 🙂
  25. Making lists – I love making lists so much, it really helps keep everything organised – and being able to tick things of these lists makes me so happy!
  26. Chocolate – Everybody knows chocolate makes you happy 🙂
  27. Takeaway Fridays – I look forward to this every week – there is nothing better than having a takeaway on a Friday night!
  28. When your winged eyeliner is perfect – Nothing makes me happier than having both my eyes looking the same
  29. Pamper nights – I LOVE putting aside a few hours every week to just relax and spend time pampering myself. This usually consists of a Lush bath, hot chocolate, fuzzy PJ’s and face masks!
  30. Hugs – I am an affectionate person and love cuddles so much!
  31. Buying people gifts – I love buying people gifts, and actually think I get more excited than them when they are opening a gift I have got them!
  32. Stationary – I love stationary shopping – My desk at work currently has an owl pen pot, a post-it note drawer and a lot of colourful pens/pens with owls/other animals on them..
  33. Owls also make me very happy
  34. Ironing – I actually find ironing very therapeutic 🙂
  35. I love fairy lights, and the relaxing vibe they give to any room
  36. Lazy weekends – Spent in your pj’s, watching movies/tv shows/youtube videos – these do make me so happy
  37. Catching up – When you see/meet someone you have not seen in so long – and catching up on everything you have missed out on 🙂
  38. Pay day 😉 – I don’t need to explain why this makes me happy
  39. DIY projects – I LOVE working on cute projects, such as crocheting, making my own pen pots, decorating glass jars/old boxes… being creative makes me very happy 🙂
  40. Sunny weather – Although I LOVE Autumn, I also love the summer so much.
  41. Going on holiday – I think I am due a holiday very soon – something about just getting away from life for a while and relaxing .. It really does make you happy, and sometimes it is just what you need 🙂
  42. Getting into a good TV series – I LOVE when you discover a new TV show, and you just want to spend all day watching every episode – examples include Game of Thrones and Supernatural 🙂
  43. Snow – The snow makes me so happy!
  44. Cozy evenings in – As much as I love going out for dinner – nothing makes me happier than spending a quite night in, watching TV and eating crappy food. I would much rather stay in, wearing my warmest PJ’s and catching up with everyone.
  45. My phone – I have instant access to my blog/social media/emails/contacts – THIS THING MAKES ME HAPPY
  46. Weekends – As much as I love working – nothing beats the feeling of waking up on Saturday morning, knowing you have 2 whole days to do whatever you want 🙂
