Summer Bucket List

Hey hey

So … bucket lists. These have literally become my favourite thing EVER. Probs cos’ I’m a massive lover of writing lists and ticking things off – is there anything more satisfying? I think not kids.

Now – I recently did a Spring Bucket List which a lot of you REALLY enjoyed – which is fab because I not only loved writing it, but also ticking things off it! It only seemed right that I do a summer one too right ? Funnily enough I actually started writing this on 1st June – the first proper day of Summer – and am only publishing it 12 days after. Lol. As you do. Bare with me guys .. I am getting back on the blogging bandwagon.

It’s funny because summer is probably my least favourite season, believe it or not. I am 100% an Autumn/Winter kinda gal, but that’s not to say I don’t try to make the most of my summer days. I still love the warmer weather, just not as much as a cosy Autumn day, tehe.

Bucket lists. Let’s get on with it ey?

Have a themed picnic

I was inspired by Zoella on this one guys. She had the most AMAZING summer themed picnic a few days ago and I knew I had to have one of my own. I love me a good picnic, and I’m all up for adding themes to EVERYTHING (bedrooms, parties etc); I once threw the hubby a Las Vegas themed birthday party which was SO much fun, so I am VERY excited to plan a themed picnic! I am HOPING to have the picnic for my birthday (which is in July FYI) – I just need some sunny weather please.

I am unsure as to what theme to have yet – maybe American/4th July style with a BBQ? Or Mexican – or good ol’ British with plenty of scones & tea. Ahhh so many ideas – I might have more than one HA. Pinterest has become my best friend.

Blog Rebrand

This is another very exciting one – if you follow my social media you will know I am currently in the middle of a blog rebrand. I am just planning my new blog name, my theme, banner etc – so am hoping this will be done very soon ! Keep your eyes peeled for some changes !

Complete a whole BBQ by myself

This is a small but special one for me. I’ve helped out plenty of times when making a BBQ – but never have I completed a whole one myself. I’m talking the whole works guys – preparing what is going to be on it, getting it lit and cooking on it. I’m very excited for this one too – and want to master the whole thing this summer !

Make Jam

This goes hand in hand with something else I do every single summer, and that is strawberry picking ! I love going to the strawberry fields and spending time picking my own – there is something so relaxing and satisfying about it ! I have found that pick your own strawbs tend to get bad quite quickly compared to store bought, and unless you live on a diet of strawberries for a few days, you’re going to get rotten ones (boo!). My solution to this? Make some jam! It’s such a good way to use up a lot of strawberries in one go… and can you imagine having homemade scones & jam? YUM. I’m planning on getting loads of cute mason jars and making a whole batch, to give as gifts and keep! I’ve never made jam either, so it will be an exciting thing for me to try out.

Make The Perfect Lemonade

Ok I feel like this summer my main aim is to make lots of food & drinks right ?! But seriously though – is there anything better than homemade lemonade on a warm day ? Hubby had the nicest one whilst we were out in Amsterdam and it is my goal to make it exactly like that. I’m not talking any of this watered down stuff though – I WILL make it the best lemonade I’ve ever had. And of course, I’ll be sharing it with you once I’ve perfected it.

Visit Brighton

This place has been on my travel list for so so long – only bad thing? It would take me around 5 hours to drive down. Don’t think I could do a Brighton day trip eh? I want to plan a weekend away here so I can really enjoy it, and I’m sure anyone who has been to Brighton, or lives there (lucky sods) will know exactly why. So – if anyone has any recommendations of where to go/stay, pass them my way, ta.

Restart my YT channel

Most of you will know that I have a YT channel, which I started probably over a year ago now. You may have also noticed that it’s been an absolute age since I last uploaded a video. Why? I honestly cannot find the time to film, edit & upload videos. Was I just not bothered about trying to make the time? Maybe. All I know is that I love making videos and really want to start making the effort with them again. So this summer, I’m going to get on the ball, get my ass into gear and start up with the videos again !

Make ice cream from scratch

You know I jut had to get one more ‘make my own’ in this post right? What can I say – summer is the time to get creative and try new things. And of course, with the weather hopefully being ‘slightly’ warmer (let’s be real guys we’re in England and only see a handful of days with the temp above 15c), we all crave ice cream right? And, I can’t imagine anything more perfect than making my own on a hot day, and eating it straight away.

Now I’m just wishing for some Summer days .. coming anytime soon?

Lots of Love,

♥Blogger Easter Essentials♥

Hiya lovelies!♥

IT IS THE LONG EASTER WEEKEND WOOP! Now… I would be EVEN more excited for this if I had not already been off for the whole week (haha!). Do you have any plans for the long weekend? All I know is that the weather is going to be poopy where I am (grr!).. So we will just have to see how the weekend pans out! ALSO… YES to the clocks changing… this means MORE DAYLIGHT WOOP! Which for us bloggers is THE DREAM. However.. for the lazy people (i.e. me).. it means we lose an hour in bed (no no no!).

Anyways darlings… I know you have probably seen SO many Easter themed posts.. SO I wanted to mix it up slightly…. so I decided to post what MY EASTER ESSENTIALS ARE! Now.. by this I mean little things that I feel EVERYBODY associates with Easter time!! This includes Easter treats & beauty bits too! So angels.. let’s have a quick look!!!!

Cornflake Nests♥

SAM_4246

I think almost every single person must have made these AT LEAST ONCE!! They are literally the EASIEST thing to make and look SO SO CUTE!! How nostalgic do these make you feel?! They would ALWAYS be in every baking fair/sale at school AND I am sure you and your mum/older siblings would always make them around Easter time!

All you need for these:

  • 200g Cornflakes
  • 75g Butter
  • 200g Milk Chocolate
  • 4 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • Mini Eggs

Method:

Melt all the ingredients. Mix in with the cornflakes and put into cupcake cases. Top with 2 (or more!) mini eggs. Leave to set.. and enjoy!!

Bright/Pastel Nails♥

SAM_4261

SAM_4262

There is just something ABOUT pastels that just MEANS Spring time is near!!! I absolutely LOVE this pastel pink colour from Barry M for spring/Easter inspired nails! Also.. nothing like a pop of orange to show you are well and truly ready for the warmer months! This beautiful colour is by Ciate London Olivia Palermo range in the colour “My Haute Vacation Coral” It would look SO beautiful on your toes too! So.. if you are lucky enough to get some sun on the Bank Holiday… pull out your sandals from the back of your wardrobe, give yourself a well deserved (and needed!) pedicure.. and rock bright nails! Yay!!

Lush Easter Products♥

SAM_4255SAM_4253

I have been so so impressed with the Lush Easter range this year.. HOW ADORABLE ARE THE BUNCH OF CARROTS!!!! I was lucky enough to be invited to a Lush event (full post will be coming soon!).. and just looking at the range they have.. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE THING!!! I have already mentioned how much I LOVE the Bouncy Bunny shower jelly too…. IT IS THE BEST!!!

All Types Of Eggs♥

SAM_4265

Right guys.. the two types of eggs I am talking about are: Chocolate Eggs and Lush Bath Bomb Eggs. Firstly… it would not even be Easter time if you didn’t demolish at least 1 bag of mini eggs (all by yourself may I add – no sharing required). AND… all of you are allowed to have ONE GIANT EASTER EGG!  ALSO… for all us Lush/bath lovers… you have a LOVELY selection of easter egg bath bombs to choose from! From the GLITTERY AS ANYTHING Golden Egg (which is an absolute BEAUTY.. AND it smells like toffee… YUM)… to the beautiful hot pink Fluffy Egg (which smells JUST like snow fairy!!)… AND the HUGE bath bombs Humpty Dumpty and Which Came First?

Quick Review of Golden Egg♥

I used this beauty in the bath recently.. so thought I would give you a SUPER QUICK REVIEW! Firstly.. if you do not like glittery baths.. you are best avoiding this as it is SO GLITTERY! I LOVE THEM THOUGH.. so was so excited to use this!! Once it is in the bath.. the water is FILLED with glitter.. and it starts to fizz away slowly. The scent is probably my FAVOURITE thing about it.. it smells like toffee/caramel/chocolate.. SO YUMMY!! Once the Golden Egg has finished melting.. you are left with the the most glittery, beautiful smelling, silkiest bath water EVER! I DID not want to leave my bath! The scent lasts on your skin for so long after you get out too.. which is FAB! I also did not need to moisturize after.. which is always a plus!

Cute Bunny Props♥

SAM_4247

Guys.. HOW CUTE are these little bunnies? As soon as I saw them.. I knew I HAD TO HAVE THEM!! They are going to make SUCH cute props for my Spring inspired posts.. AND just add a cute touch to your room… these will be dotted around my makeup storage area too!!

So lovelies… I really hope you liked this post!! I am SO excited for Spring time! If you have done any spring time inspired posts.. let me know .. I would LOVE to check them out!!! I REALLY hope you all enjoy the long weekend… and also the extra daytime hours we get!!! I also am working on something VERY exciting which I will reveal in my next post.. I just want to make sure everything is done beforehand!! So stay tuned for that lovelies!!

I will see you in my next post loves!

Lots of Love,

Saira

Valentines Ideas Ft. Baker Days♥

Hi lovelies!!♥

Have you all had a fab week so far? I have enjoyed mine .. but let me tell you loves.. I have been SO TIRED!! I am not sure if this is because I am getting up slightly earlier for work, or if it is because I am coming down with something! I have had the WORST sore throat for a few days now that just doesn’t want to budge (grrrrr!!).. as well as an awful post nasal drip.. I feel like I should have a full on cold right now.. but for some reason the symptoms are just DRAGGING on.. I WISH they would hurry up so that I can get better ASAP!!!

Anyway .. lets put aside the fact that I am poorly (even though all I want right now is cuddles and chocolate)… and talk about a VERY special package I received last week!

I was contacted by the LOVELY Emma over at Baker Days.. Now if you are obsessed with Twitter (like yours truly over here :P).. I am sure you would have come across them! They are an online personalized cake delivery service (when I say personalized.. I mean it .. THERE ARE SO MANY VARIATIONS!!).. and they deliver to literally EVERYWHERE in the UK (and worldwide too!!). You guys know how much I love cakes/cupcakes/baking in general.. so to feature something like this in my blog was SO exciting!!

Cake

The thing that really drew me to Baker Days was that they had a cake THAT WOULD FIT THROUGH YOUR LETTERBOX. Oh yes lovelies.. you read that right! I know it sounds absolutely CRAZY … but read on loves and I will tell you all about my experience 🙂

Ok .. so when I first got the email, I checked out their website .. and I was so surprised as to how many different designs they had! There are ones for birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, baby showers.. and especially perfect for this time of year.. VALENTINES CAKES! I can guarantee that you will find a cake for WHATEVER occasion you need! I know I am one who thinks cakes just COMPLETE an occasion.. and to have one that is personalized for that special person is just FAB!

So .. obviously with it being Valentines soon, I thought I would pick one for that… I literally found the MOST PERFECT ONE.. I am such a lover of cute, quirky things, and when I saw this Nutella inspired design .. I HAD TO HAVE IT!! I also personalized it by asking to have hubby’s name on it! And guess what loves.. it doesn’t just come in standard vanilla sponge … YOU CAN GET CHOCOLATE CHIP/FRUIT TOO! For those that need it, they also have a gluten/dairy free option! I love the fact that you can also order larger cakes, and have the option to add a balloon .. imagine what a WONDERFUL surprise it would be having that turning up on your doorstep (ahem.. hint hint :P).

SAM_3426

After ordering.. I GOT THE CAKE WITHIN 2 DAYS!! For all those last minute people, Baker Days also offer next day delivery (You can have a peek on their website for details on delivery information!). Now I know what most of you are thinking .. how can a cake delivered through your letterbox not get squashed/ruined etc.. trust me I thought exactly the same thing!! BUT MY CAKE ARRIVED IN PERFECT CONDITION!! Baker Days have some sort of magical touch (or just extremely good packaging) where the cakes stay in perfect condition through it’s journey to you!!

I love the fact that it is stored in an adorable tin, along with some Loveheart sweets and a card! As soon as I opened the tin .. I knew straight away it was fresh because I could just smell the chocolatey goodness! I wanted to dig right in .. but of course being a blogger.. I had to take some pictures first!! I CANNOT GET OVER HOW CUTE IT IS!!!! I knew it would hurt me a little bit when I would have to cut it!

SAM_3430

So loves.. after all my pictures were taken, it was time to cut the cake and have a taste! Should I be completely honest? I wasn’t expecting the cake to be anything special… BUT.. when I had the first slice.. OH MY WORD… I was SO pleasantly surprised!! The cake was SO YUMMY, I could tell it was fresh AND that so much care had been put into making it. I LOVED the chocolate chips.. which almost made it taste like a huge muffin/cookie. I almost want to send every single one of my friends/family members a Bakers Day cake through their letterbox.. I just LOVE the idea.. and was SO HAPPY that the cake itself was SO TASTY!

SAM_3437

I literally cannot recommend Baker Days enough .. the whole delivery process was just so quick, and the cake arrived in the most perfect condition. I also just ADORE the concept of getting a cake through your letterbox .. it is just GENIUS!

SAM_3433

Make sure you check out their website loves… I can guarantee you will LOVE them just as much as me!! They will be such a fantastic gift idea for Valentines day (only 2 weeks to go until then!).. and would be a lovely change to the standard flowers/chocolates!

Baker Days Site

Follow them on Twitter & Facebook♥

I hope you check them out .. make sure to let me know if you do!! I love little gifts that you can get through the letterbox.. I am such a huge fan of Graze Boxes.. so know I will be SO obsessed with ordering these and having them being posted to my friends on special occasions!!

Right angels .. I really hope you liked this review!!! I would only EVER recommend you guys something that I absolutely LOVE myself… and I know 100% I will order from Baker Days again… so of course why would I not tell my lovely readers about it too??

I think that is me done for this post… I really want to make it my aim that I get as MUCH sleep as possible this weekend.. but I am sure you all know my mindset on weekends.. “Up early to get AS MUCH DONE AS POSSIBLE!”… Oh dear.. what am I like!? ANYWAYS .. I will stop babbling on and let you darlings get on with your evening.. HAVE AN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS ONE.. and guess what loves.. IT’S ALMOST THE WEEKEND WOOOP WOOP!!

I will see you in my next post loves! CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

Lots of Love,

Saira

What’s In My Bag♥

Hiya lovelies!♥

Who caught some snow over the weekend? I DID! I LOVE the snow so so much .. and it has not snowed enough for the past few years… BUT IT DID YESTERDAY! I just LOVE how beautiful it looks too .. I didn’t even mind cleaning the snow off my car this morning hehe! I am just SO excited to play in it too (wow I sound like a child ha!)… Do any of you love/hate the snow? My only concern is driving to work tomorrow.. we saw so many cars skidding down our street yesterday (I live on a MASSIVE hill guys .. it may as well be a mountain!).. BUT the gritters have been so my street (and the main roads) are looking clear.. so fingers crossed I will be fine!

Right angels… as you can see by the title …THIS IS MY WHAT’S IN MY BAG POST! These are my FAVOURITE video to watch/post to read.. I have no idea what is so intriguing about knowing what is in someone else’s bag.. but I just LOVE THEM! I feel like you can tell so much about a person from the contents of their bag.. and it is quite fun to get a little insight into their life (so basically just being nosy hehe!). So… should we see what I keep in mine?

Firstly.. my bag itself.. I use this for the weekends, as I have a separate bag for work.. but the contents remain more or less them same! The bag is from LYDC London*.. and is absolutely stunning! It is big enough to hold all my stuff… yet does not look like a suitcase! I love the fact that it can be flung over my shoulder.. I find these bags so much easier to use, especially on weekends! HOW CUTE IS MY LITTLE FLUFF BALL! I have seen these everywhere, and I think it is the cutest addition to any bag … I was actually kindly sent this from LYDC too… they have SO many different colours, so you can pick one up that matches (or completely clashes) with your bag! Also.. don’t forget you can still get 10% off using my code “SAIRA10”!

LYDC Bag

Quick overview of everything…. I didn’t realize how much stuff there actually was! What can I say loves.. I like to be prepared 😛 Oh.. I also just realized I didn’t get a separate picture of my purse… but that is obviously an essential too… and is in the picture below!

Overview

My little (?!) collection of medicines!♥

Health Products

I don’t even know if some of you think having this is my handbag is normal or COMPLETELY BONKERS. I have a wonderful collection of pain relief, indigestion, cold/flu AND allergy tablets. I also have a few throat lozenges, plasters and an inhaler (which is my husbands). Am I normal guys, or is this too much (eeeek!)… I just like knowing that if anyone came down with a headache, a sudden cold or an allergy attack, I COULD SAVE THE DAY (or just make them feel better for a few hours ha!). Tissues are pretty normal… but I am not sure many people keep a toothbrush/toothpaste in their bag. No I am not a filthy person who doesn’t brush her teeth in the morning so has to carry it in her bag.. I just like having it for when we have been out for dinner, and I want to feel refreshed!

My Diary (and plenty of colourful pens)!

Diary

Ahhh my beloved diary … I purposely got a smaller diary this year as I wanted it to fit in my bag easily. This just lives in my bag and I update it with relevant things/notes during the day. I also LOVE being colour co-ordinated, so HAVE to carry around my pens with me .. you will NEVER find any black ink in my diary! Colours just make my day better (although I can’t say the same about colours for my clothes muaha!).

FOOD!

Food

Water is ESSENTIAL in my bag.. I definitely know when I have not had enough water.. so I make sure there is always a full bottle in my bag! It makes it weigh an absolute TONNE.. but it has to have its place! I also keep a few (naughty and good) snacks in my bag. I always chuck in an apple, and sometimes some chopped berries in a tub! I also have a few treats .. this Hersheys Candy Cane chocolate is AMAZING!! I had SUCH an obsession with ANYTHING peppermint flavoured over the Christmas period.. and just LOVE having a little nibble of this every now and again. I also LOVE sour sweets SO SO MUCH …so like having the fizzy cola bottles in my bag to snack on :P.

Beauty Products

Beauty Products

I like having my beauty products in one pouch, so I am not rooting around in my bag for a lipstick/mirror.. I only started doing this recently and it saves SO MUCH TIMES GUYS.. If you don’t already have them, buy a few small pouches to keep all your little bits in! It avoids you losing anything too! I also have a small body spray from Avon in the scent “Vanilla & Sandalwood” .. it is a lovely, sweet scent that is light, so is nice for a quick refresh! The bottle is also light and is the perfect size for your handbag!

Make up

Lipsticks

Ok.. this is the contents of the little cherry pouch (which was a bargain at 10p from a boot sale!).. as you can see I have lovely range of lip products! I am not the type of person to top up her make up during the day ( I rarely feel I have to!).. the only thing I ever have to re-apply is lipstick!

The ones I have are:

Clinique Cherry Pop (free from Glamour)

Rimmel by Kate Moss 01

Mac Creme Cup

Maybelline Moisture Renew Dark Night Water-Oops

Nivea Lip Butter & Vaseline Lip Balm

I also have a random red nail polish (I can’t even remember why that is in there), some oil blotting sheets, a mirror, hand cream, a pin and hair bobble!

Girl Products

Girl Products

I use this adorable iridescent pouch (from LYDC*) to hold my “girly” products.. and some additional bits like tissues/wipes/pain killers etc! Just thought I would give you a sneak peak.. I don’t really think I have to go in additional detail! I do think that every girl needs a pouch like this in her school/work bag..it really will come in handy for any unexpected moments.. for you AND other girlies out there!

Electronic Bits & Pieces!

Phone

Last BUT NOT LEAST… is my phone! Of course this is essential .. It helps me stay up to date with family/friends/blogging babes/emails/work etc! Loving the pineapple case too (Thanks Coconut Lane… psssssst 20% OFF THE SITE USING “gliterglass20”)! I also NEED my car charger, and an additional external charger (one of those that you charge up at home then can use it to charge your phone when you are out). Obviously loves.. being a blogger, you use your phone probably more than a normal person should.. and we all know our phones do not have the best battery life when we are on Twitter 24/7.. so both of these chargers are a MUST HAVE in my bag.. and never leave it!

WOW…. that is quite a lot of stuff ey! Should we see if it all fits in my bag guys?

Everything

Eeeeek.. just about! My big is VERY heavy .. but I just feel so much better when I leave the house with all of these things.. some of you may think this is too much.. some of you may have MORE! I would LOVE to see what you all have in your bags … maybe you could do a post and let me know so I can have a peek?

ANYWAYS GUYS … I am going to go play in the SNOW!!! I will give you a quick update on my weekend though.. I went to the bank to get my name changed (I AM MRS SHAH NOW GUYS HEHE!)… Then went round the shops and picked up a few bits and pieces (all to be featured in a haul soon!).. I also went around some charity shops and got some things.. would you guys like to see some tips on shopping in charity shops? Let me know! I think they are overlooked by so many people.. but honestly you can find some gems in there!

Right my loves…. lets get my warmest coat/boots/gloves on… and venture out into the snow (I am avoiding any reference to Frozen here guys!).

HAVE A FABULOUS SUNDAY LOVELIES… See you in my next one!

Lots of Love

How to: Perfect Christmassy Afternoon♥

Hi my lovelies!

Hope you have all had an amazing weekend! I woke up to no rain today (YAY)… meaning I can take my outfit pictures!! I have also been a little busy this weekend organizing our registry office “wedding”… Me and my hubby have already had our “main” wedding day and our Nikkah done (the Islamic ceremony of marriage).. but we are just not registered yet.. so we will be having that done in January next year! Very exciting times!

Anyway….. I HAVE A VERY FESTIVE POST FOR YOU. I have been planning this post for SO long and am so excited to finally put it up! It is how to have the PERFECT Christmassy afternoon/evening, with festive themed baking, drinks, baths and pamper ideas! It is the perfect afternoon to have in the run up to Christmas, especially on a weekend! Eeeeek I am literally so exciting for you to see this post … And I really hope you try the ideas!

So, put aside a few hours, get some Christmas music playing, and lets have the PERFECT CHRISTMASSY AFTERNOON!

SAM_2720

The first thing that I think is SO MUCH FUN at this time of year is to do some BAKING! I am not a huge fan of mince pies (wish I was though!).. so I tend to avoid baking things with fruit in them.. I am however a HUGE fan of any vanilla/chocolate cupcakes! I thought I would make some standard vanilla cupcakes, but make it festive with different types of frosting and decoration. I also added some sprinkles into the cake mix (hehe!)

Recipe for Cupcakes:

Makes 24

  • 225g Butter (softened)
  • 225g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 225g Self-Raising Flour
  • 5 tbsp Milk
  • Sprinkles (optional) – as many as you want!
  • Lots of Christmassy sprinkles/decorations

SAM_2787

Method:

Put 24 red cake cases in muffin pans

Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC/Gas Mark 4. Put the butter, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. Then, add one egg at a time, beating the mixture well after each one. Sift the flour in and fold into the mixture with the milk. If you want to, add the sprinkles in at this stage and mix well. Then, spoon the mixture into the 24 paper cases. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until well risen. Put onto a wire rack and leave to cool for at leas 20 minutes.

SAM_2789SAM_2791SAM_2735

Frosting!

Now, I actually had 4 differant types of frosting. I firstly made some basic buttercream frosting:

Ingredients:

  • 175g Unsalted Buteer
  • 350g Icing Sugar
  • Milk (if required) 1-2tsps

Method:

Put the butter in a bowl and beat until fluffy. Sift the icing sugar in and beat together until it is well mixed. If the frosting is quite thick, add in the milk. Separate into 3 bowls

Peppermint Frosting:

Add 2 candy canes (crushed) into the frosting (make sure they are TINY.. if the pieces are too big, you will NOT be able to pipe (TRUST ME IT HAPPENED TO ME!). Put the frosting into a piping bag and use a medium star-shaped nozzle. Pipe onto the cupcakes and sprinkle more crushed candy canes on top!

SAM_2800

Cinnamon Frosting:

Sprinkle a TINY amount of cinnamon into the frosting and mix well. Put in the piping bag and pipe the frosting on. Then, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar (sugar mixed with cinnamon) onto the top of the cupcake, and then place some edible gingerbread men on the top! I LOVE THESE! The gingerbread men are from TK Maxx and they are the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

SAM_2796

Chocolate Frosting

Add 2 tbsp of cocoa powder to the frosting and mix well. Add to the piping bag and pipe onto the cakes. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on some, and add the edible sugar decorations on others. Then, sift some icing sugar on the top to make it look like snow! ADORABLE!

Green Frosting

I cheated as this was ready made hehe! Just pipe it onto the cupcakes and add the edible sugar decorations on them.

SAM_2811

So there you have it! Vanilla cupcakes with different types of frosting .. these are just some examples that you can try but there really are so many variations .. so get creative my loves! YOU WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

SAM_2819

Wow.. I bet all that baking tired you out! What better thing to do than have a… LUSH BATH!♥ Before we start to run our bath, I want to show you how you can make the yummiest smelling body scrub EVER! It is so perfect for this time of year.. as it is a WHIPPED GINGERBREAD SCRUB!

HOW TO: Whipped Gingerbread Scrub

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of demera sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • Gingerbread sprinkles

IMG_7173

Put the sugars and oil in a bowl, and use an electric whisk until it is a whipped consistency. Add the spices, ginger and vanilla and whisk until they are blended in. Add to a cute jar, top with little gingerbread sprinkles… and you’re done! All set to use during your bath!

IMG_7177

Quick disclaimer: as this scrub has cinnamon and nutmeg (spices), it may irritate those with sensitive skin. I recommend ALWAYS doing a patch test, with ANY homemade scrub.. I also WOULD NOT recommend this one for your face lovelies.. I think you can guess why :P. If you want some DIY masks that are gentler, have a read of my blog post HERE

 Lush Bath♥

YES.. you knew this would be fitted into our Christmassy afternoon :D. You know the drill guys… lots of candles, face masks, scrubs and some magazines! My FAVOURITE bath bombs to use are Yog Nog and Lord of Misrule.. but you can use WHICHEVER ones you like angels!

IMG_7002

Bet your’re feeling pretty good after your bath right! Now it’s time to put on your coziest PJ’s and make a hot chocolate (check out my blog post HERE for some yummy ideas!)

It is now time to relax… you can put some Christmas movies on and start to wrap your presents!

SAM_2823

That is how you can have the perfect Christmassy afternoon! I can guarantee you will feel very festive after this, and definitely excited for Christmas. I really hoped you enjoyed this post angels… and let me know if you try the cupcakes and scrub! I think the scrub can also make a great DIY gift… I just cannot get over how gorgeous it smells!

Let me know what you thought of this post lovelies! I will see you in my next one!

Lots of Love

♥November Faves!♥

Happy Sunday lovelies!

How has your weekend been? Well.. all I can say is that Storm Desmond (those of you in the UK will KNOW about this!) has definitely been causing many issues – the weather has just been awful. Strong winds, lots of rain … it has just been a nightmare! I really want to take some outfit pictures today – let’s see how kind the storm will be to me (probably not much to be fair .. boo!)

Anyway …. This post is going to be my November FAVES .. I know what you guys are already thinking .. it is a little but late .. but better late than never right (blah what a cheesy saying ha!)

Dark Lipsticks ♥

So if you are a follower of my blog (if so you are a babe!), you will know how much I have been LOVING dark lipsticks at the moment. I really ventured out of my comfort zone of only wearing Carmex, and started to wear lipstick … and now I feel SO bare without it!

SAM_2695

My FAVES that have literally not left my on-the-go makeup bag are Rimmel’s 107 (middle)EVERY BLOGGERS FAVE – Well almost every :P, Make Up Revolution 100% Vamp (right), and Rimmel’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in Dark Night Waterl-Oops (left). Also guys – have you noticed my little owl tray and glass hearts? I bought them both from B&M – I am trying to improve my photography and add cute little random things in my pictures – I think they add something a little extra! Also I have a very wintery background going on too – which is wallpaper that I stole  took after asking nicely from B&M ;).

Anyway – all 3 lipsticks are SO PRETTY! When I don’t want a VERY dark lip, I will just stick to 107, but on other days, I will wear 107 as a base and then but either of the 2 darker lipsticks on top. I LOVE YOU DARK LIPS – is it still acceptable to wear dark lipstick in the summer? 😛

Scarves♥

SAM_2709

Where would we be in November without scarves? It definitely started to get a lot chillier this month.. so of course huge, furry scarves became a favourite of mine. The two that I have been loving the most is this tartan, blanket style one from Primark, which you can see styled HERE. It is basically just like having a blanket round your shoulders, and is just the best thing EVER! AND IT WAS ONLY £5 – PRIMARK WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT YOU! The next one is my faux fur scarf – you guys are probably sick to death of seeing this but I think I wore it with almost half my outfits in November! It has been a FIRM favourite this month :D.

Clementines♥

SAM_2710

This might be weird to some of you – but I have been loving clementines SO much this month! I think they really come into season around this time of year, so are SO YUMMY! I probably take around 3 to work and eat them all (haha!). When I was younger, my parents would put a clementine at the bottom of our stockings at Christmas time – I think it used to be some tradition.. anyone else heard of this?

THIS make-up bag♥

SAM_2714

Now I actually received this little bag from LYDC London as a surprise (Thank you LYDC!) – and I fell in love with it! I love the iridescent colour of it – AND it is also the perfect size to fit my everyday make-up essentials in (which just includes lipstick, lipbalm, blotting sheets and a mirror). It is SO pretty, and is also so easy to find in the bottom of the dark pit that is my handbag :P. If you also want to purchase it, or anything else from LYDC London, you can get 10% off using the code “SAIRA10″… because they are just TOO KIND!

Barry M Bronzer, Blusher, Highlighter Palette♥

Untitled design (20)

Untitled design (19)

Now this Barry M palette has been an absolute GEM this month – it has something for everyone – a gorgeous highlighter, bronzer, and 3 different blushers. The colours are so pigmented, and not too glittery at all. I can probably say it has been my most favourite product of ALL of November (woop!). It is so handy to have everything in one palette, and not be fiddling around in my make up bag for different products. Best of all, you can pick it up from Boots and Superdrug for ONLY £6.99! Now if that isn’t the bargain of the year – I DON’T KNOW WHAT IS! 😀

Candles♥

Candle

Now this candle has already made quite a few appearances on my blog .. so you probably know how much I LOVE it.. I have been burning it through the whole month of November and now it has ALMOST GONE! The smell literally is like a freshly baked apple pie .. so yummy! I will be getting a Christmassy one soon .. which I cannot wait for!

So there we have my November faves lovelies .. I hope you enjoyed this post! It is now actually later on in the evening .. I have had quite a busy day! I took my car on the motorway for the first time (eeeek!), and then on the way home I popped to TK Maxx and B&M, and then stopped at KFC for some food! Phew! By the way guys TK Maxx have THE BEST house/kitchen stuff ever… especially at this time of year! If you have not already been I suggest you go and take a look .. sometimes you do have to look quite hard but that’s when you find the AMAZING THINGS! I bought something for a very exciting and festive post which I cannot wait to put up during the week! So make sure you check back on my blog angels!

Right lovelies… that is me done with this post – I am now going to do some laundry, maybe take some blog photos and then just relax! This weekend has gone by way too fast for my liking – I feel like I have not had any time to relax at all! Saturday was spent in Manchester, and Sunday was spent doing lots of shopping! I may have a Lush bath later on… I think I deserve it!

Hope you have a lovely Sunday night angels … See you in my next post!

Lots of Love,

A Day Spent in Holmfirth

Happy Saturday loves!

Hope you have all had a lovely week :). Mine, as usual was spent working and blogging! Yesterday (Friday night), we normally have a takeaway night in, but we actually decided to go out for dinner for a change which is always nice! I actually felt so tired after, and ending sleeping as soon as we got home (whoops!), and woke up at around 11:30pm (crazy Friday night I know :P). I then stayed up for a while and caught up on some blogs, then went back to bed! As I am sure you all know, napping at that time is never a good idea – and resulting in me waking up at 5:30am on Saturday morning, not being able to go back to sleep! So here I am… writing a blog post 🙂

So.. this is going to be a fashion/life catch up post – updating you guys on what I got up to last weekend, and showing my outfit! Now, I am the type of person who loves finding new, cute places to explore, and living in Yorkshire, there are definitely plenty of little villages to have a wander round! So, we googled a few places, and drove on!

We actually ended up in a village called Holmfirth, which ended up being SUCH  a beautiful, picturesque place. It had SO many little shops and cafes, and was surrounded by the gorgeous countryside! The first shop we went into was AMAZING! It was hidden in a little corner near the canal, and was a vintage furniture shop (I have already decided that when we buy a house I want to buy ALL of my furniture from there).

SAM_2222 SAM_2223 SAM_2225

SAM_2226

I am a lover of all things vintage, so love going in to shops like this, as well as charity shops and boot sales (where you can always find something special!)

We then drove to the actual village of Holmfirth, and had a mooch around the shops there (which I must say were just as amazing!) – and then found the cutest little cafe to have some lunch in!

SAM_2230 SAM_2231

I had a hot chocolate and some homemade crepes, which were SO GOOD. My mum also ordered an amazing platter, which came with 3 bean salsa, hummus, salad and some pitta bread. It was so yummy – I cannot recommend this little cafe enough. The lady that worked there was one of the nicest people I have ever met, and she was so welcoming – I will definitely be visiting it again. The cafe is called “En Route” Cafe – if you are ever around the Holmfirth area, I suggest popping in for a coffee and cake :). At the time, it was also decorated amazingly for Halloween/Autumn, so I can only imagine it will look beautiful around Christmas time :D.

SAM_2258 SAM_2259 SAM_2265 SAM_2267

We then went for a walk around the countryside, a quick drive around the village, before heading back home! It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday – we are going to try and make this a weekly thing, as it is always lovely to venture out into a city/village you have never been and see what it has to offer!

So.. onto the outfit itself.. On Saturday, I had a quick shopping trip, and picked up the most beautiful midi skirts from Primark (I will feature my purchases in my next blog post). I am a huge fan of midi skirts – although a few years back I did not dare wear them as I though I looked like a business women (I blame my age at the time :P). Now that I am slightly older (and wiser, tehehe), I think they are an amazing piece to have in your wardrobe. They definitely add an elegant look to an outfit, but I also will be pairing it with a graphic tee and some converse on casual days!

SAM_2240 SAM_2246 SAM_2247 SAM_2249 SAM_2252 SAM_2281

The skirt is in the most beautiful burgundy shade, and is knitted too! I prefer this so much for the colder months, compared to the standard cotton style. I paired it with my fuzzy jumper which you have seen before (I loved the mix of textures), some black ankle boots, and a patterned hijab. As it got colder later on, I added my over-sized blazer. I wore Rimmel 107 on my lips, and my usual winged liner!

SAM_2279 SAM_2283 SAM_2298

Top – New Look (I think?!)

Skirt – Primark

Boots – Topshop

Hijab – Not sure – probably a little stall

Bag – Next

Lipstick – Rimmel 107 🙂

Blazer – New Look

And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed this post ladies :). I am now going to get ready to go to a new shopping centre that has just opened up (Ahh exciting :P).. And hopefully pick up some bits and bots that I need. I am not sure what I am getting up to for the rest of the weekend, but I will be taking some outfit photos, and thinking up new blog post ideas :). If you have anything that you want me to blog about, do let me know. By the way guys – I am looking to buy a better camera for my blog photos – any recommendations?

Right lovelies, hope you enjoy your Saturday.. I am over on twitter at @saira1816 if you want to say hello, and also on Instagram on throughtheglitterglass, if you want updates too!

Lots of love,

Halloween Cupcakes

Hi Darlings!

How are you all? Hope you have all had a lovely week so far, and are all getting in to the Halloween spirit! I have carved pumpkins, bought some decorations for my desk at work, and of course done some baking! I LOVED the look of other bloggers cupcakes, and just felt so inspired to make my own. So, after work, I drove to B&M and Home Bargains (both of these stores are EXCELLENT for Halloween decorations and treats, and everything is super cheap too!), and picked up some bits up for my cupcakes!

Now, I have to admit, I do love baking but it is very rare that I actually put time aside to do it. However, I thought Halloween would be the perfect opportunity to make some really fun cupcakes! They were also so quick to make, and very easy too! Soo… Lets get on to the recipe 🙂

SAM_2117

Also, this recipe made 12 cupcakes 🙂

Cupcakes:

  • 200 ml Water
  • 85 g Butter
  • 85 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 3 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 225 g Plain Flour
  • 2 tbsp Plain Cocoa

Buttercream Frosting :

  • 6 tbsp Butter (softened)
  • 175 g Icing Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 2-3 drops Vanilla Essence
  • few drops of food colouring (orange and green)

Decorations:

  • Halloween inspired cupcake cases
  • Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Halloween decorations (chocolate coins, halloween iced toppings)

SAM_2108

SAM_2112

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees/gas mark 4. Line your cupcake pan with 12 cupcake cases.

Add the water, butter, sugar and syrup to a saucepan over medium heat and stir gently, until the sugar has dissolved. Once it has started to boil slightly, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Then, leave this to cool.

SAM_2109

After, place the milk and vanilla extract in a small bowl, and add the bicarbonate of soda. Stir to dissolve.

In a separate bowl, sift the flour and cocoa, and then add the syrup mixture and the milk mixture. Beat until it is smooth. Using an ice cream scoop, spoon the mixture into the cases.

SAM_2111

Bake in the oven for 20 minutes (do keep a eye on them), and take out once they have risen well and are firm to touch. Leave to cool.

Whilst you are waiting for the cupcakes to cool, it is time to make the frosting. Put the butter in a bowl and beat until it is fluffy. Sift in the icing sugar and beat together well, adding in the milk and vanilla essence. Then separate the frosting in to two bowls, adding green food colouring to one, and orange to the other. Stir well.

SAM_2113

Place the frosting in two separate piping bags, and pipe half the cupcakes with orange frosting, and the other half with green (or however you like). Then, add the Halloween chocolate coins to some, the icing decorations to the others, and a sprinkling of chocolate sprinkles to each one!

SAM_2114

And that is all! See, told you they were easy and quick! They do look so amazing. I love the chocolate coins so much :), they really added so much to the cupcakes. I really hope you give these a go, they tasted like mini chocolate fudge cakes! I took some for the girls at work, who all complimented them, which is always a plus!

Anyways guys, that is it for this blog post .. my next one will be a very exciting one (well for me anyway :D).. I will give you a hint.. it is Autumn inspired, and includes DIY’s… can you guess what it will be?

I hope to see you there! Hope you all have a lovely evening :). Do let me know if you give these yummy cupcakes a go 🙂

Lots of love,

Eating Clean – How YOU can do it :)

Evening Sweethearts !

Hope you have all had a good start to the week! I had a very busy day at work, and was relieved to come home, change into my PJ’s and just unwind :). Also, I cannot express how much I have been loving blogging .. It is so amazing how you can interact with people all over the world with similar interests, and speak to them as though you have known each other for years.. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time out to read my blog, and leave me such lovely comments.. they mean the world to me!

Anyway, today I wanted to talk about… eating clean! Please don’t run away and hide.. it is not as scary or restricting as you may think. I have been eating clean for almost a year, and I can honestly say I enjoy eating so much, never feel restricted, and have really felt a difference in how I feel!

I am going to give you my top tips, and how I have adapted my eating habits to be as healthy as possible!

WATER WATER WATER

My first tip (and this may the most boring and obvious one) is to DRINK WATER. I can imagine you sighing and muttering “for god’s sake, how many times do people say this”, but TRUST ME, it makes a huge difference. I drink a huge glass as soon as I wake up, and keep a tumbler on my desk at work to ensure I never forget to drink water (the amount of trips I take to the bathroom is ridiculous). I see this as a positive thing though, as my body is ridding itself of toxins, and I can definitely tell a difference when I do not drink enough water. A good way to make sure you remember to drink water is to purchase a cute tumbler or drinking glass, one that you will want to carry around! Also an excellent tip is to add sliced lemon/lime to water.. and your plain water “magically” becomes a detoxifying drink, which will clear your skin, help with bloating and wake you up.. Win!SAM_0867

Eat 5-6 Small Meals Everyday

I feel like I never stop eating during the day, but if you are eating the right things, you can eat every 2-3 hours. I will give you a quick run through of what I eat on a daily basis (this does change ALL the time though.. I am just giving an example :D)

Breakfast – Smoothie (Recipe will be below)

Snack – Apple and Banana

Lunch – Chicken, Tomato and Spinach in Wholemeal Wrap

Snack – Yoghurt with Nuts and Dark Chocolate Chips

Snack – Strawberries and Grapes

Dinner – Chicken, Brown Rice and Vegetables

Snack – TREAT 🙂

So, as you can see I snack ALOT during they day.. but this is essential in speeding up your metabolism, as it means your body is always working to break down the food you put in your body. If you are putting the right things in your body, it will not slow down and store any excess fat (makes sense right?). I also do not restrict myself, and always have a small amount of (dark) chocolate during the day. The key is portion control, that way you will not crash and binge!

Berries Are Your Besties

Ok, it is such a cheesy title.. but berries are absolutely amazing! In fact any fruit is amazing, but I definitely cannot go a day without eating berries. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, gooseberries, you name them, I LOVE them. They have so many health benefits and really satisfy any sweet cravings (try strawberries covered in dark chocolate… they are TO DIE FOR). Just fill a little tub with your favourite berries, nuts and dark chocolate chips, and snack on whenever you want! You can also add berries to water, and let the flavours infuse.. it is so refreshing :).

SAM_0882

Switch to Wholemeal 🙂

I think everybody knows that wholemeal is a lot better for you, in foods such as bread, pasta, rice etc. It avoids that “bloated” feeling you get after, and I personally prefer the taste so much more. Just start buying wholemeal alternatives, and trust me you will not regret it, and after a while you will wish you switched over sooner!

SAM_0899

“Drink” Your Fruit/Vegetables

I was quite skeptical about purchasing a “Nutri-Ninja”, or the ever so popular “Nutri-Bullet”, but once I really got in to my clean eating, and saw it on offer in Argos for £70, I though why not? It was literally the BEST decision I ever made.. I LOVE my Nutri-Ninja so much, and use it every single day :). It is such a good way to ensure you get your “5 a day” – although with all the other fruit and vegetables I eat, mine probably goes up to “10 a day” :P.

SAM_0897

I make a smoothie every single morning for my breakfast, with the ingredients below (I do sometimes add additional fruit, but this is my go to smoothie).

SAM_0885I fill half the cup with spinach, put both apples in, put 1 banana in, 2 tablespoons of greek yoghurt, some orange juice, a squeeze of lemon and water. It literally takes me less than 5 minutes in the morning, and makes enough for me and my husband :).

Green Tea – Best Thing Ever SAM_0862

Ohhh green tea.. I love it SO much. I am sure you have all heard about “powers” of drinking green tea every day.. and I personally think it helps so much. It speeds up your metabolism, cleanses your body of toxins, makes your skin glow, and helps with bloating. Add a slice of lemon to green tea, and you have a powerful anti-oxidant drink :). I probably have around 3 cups a day :).

So… these are the main tips and advice that have come to my mind… eating clean is such a huge topic, and I would love to make more posts on my recipes/what I eat in a day etc :). I just wanted to also say that, I have a take-away every single week, and always have chocolate whenever I crave it.. It is so important to not deprive yourself, and just eat everything in moderation guys.. that is they key :). I don’t believe in having a strict diet, or a specific “day” where you can eat as many things as you want. Eating clean is a lifestyle change, not just something you do for a week/month.

I feel there is so much more to talk about, this is just an insight into my daily food diary. I will maybe in the future share some recipes/weekly food diaries? Sounds good :D. I have left out my workout routine, as I feel that will be another separate blog post hopefully very soon 🙂

Thank you so much lovelies for reading my blog… Please let me know if you want any more information/tips, and I will surely make another post like this soon! I am going to watch TV for a while, then off to bed as I have work in the morning! Have a lovely evening 🙂

Love,

Saira xx
