Becoming A Morning Person – 5 Of The BEST Ways

Hands up who despises the sound of your alarm in the morning? I’m guessing the majority of you have your hands up right now (or at least you’re thinking about it). The thought of getting out of your cosy bed and dragging yourself to the bathroom (after snoozing your alarm of course), only to rush around trying to get out of the house to work before your boss notices you’re 20 minutes late. Shit. Sound familiar? Or maybe you just kept snoozing your alarm and realised it’s now past noon, and that’s your whole morning lost. You then spend the rest of the day catching up and rushing around trying to get started on your never ending to-do list. Trust me – I know the exact feeling because I was exactly like this a few years ago. A night owl. I’d stay up late at night, and then sleep in until midday – only to find myself feeling grumpy, unproductive and unmotivated. I felt like I’d lost most of my day and didn’t feel like I wanted to tackle anything too hard. Of course – the sleeping in until midday disappeared when I started working full time, but I still despised mornings. 

 

I then decided I wanted to be one of those people who loved mornings – up early and ready to tackle my day with whatever it threw at me. I wanted to enjoy mornings and really make the most out of each day. And you know what? It IS possible to become a morning person (if you want to of course), and not only that but to love your mornings too. 

A few of the little reasons why I love my early mornings:

The calmness you feel. Not many other people are awake, you have some time to reflect on what your day is going to be like and are able to plan on what you want to achieve. You also have time to think about any stressful thoughts you might have had from the day before – everything seems better after you’ve slept on it – and you can spend this time planning on how to overcome that.

No rushing around. You know you have time in the mornings to relax a little before your busy day starts. You can sit down and enjoy breakfast, you avoid any major traffic on the way to work because you’re travelling earlier than everyone else, and you have time when you eventually get to work to plan your day ahead. Or if it’s not work, you can start planning your housework/any task you have to do that day without rushing.

The little things really help. Having the time to make your bed in the morning really helps with making you feel like you’ve already accomplished something before you even leave the house. Hearing the birds when you wake up can do so much good for your mood. Being able to just grab your bag and go without any last minute dashes help avoid that panic and stress that you might have forgotten something.

So what are the ways that helped me become a morning person? It takes some serious determination, and you have to really want it to make it your regular routine – but for me it has helped me become so much more productive and motivated.

Getting enough rest & waking up at the same time

Of course, the first obvious step is to get a good night’s rest before you even consider waking up early on a morning. Sleeping at 3am and waking up again at 5:30am ain’t working for anyone. Getting a good nights sleep is so important – but that’s a whole other post ey? Anyway, get yourself to bed early and leave those long Netflix sessions for the weekend. Also – it helps to wake up at more or less the same time everyday. Meaning if you have an alarm for 6am for work, to help you get into the routine, set that for your weekend too. For me, I found once I was in the routine, I couldn’t allow myself to stay sleeping past 7am on a weekend. My mind was always just buzzing to get up and get stuff done.

No snoozing – and no flipping through your phone.

 

This is probably the hardest thing you’re going to tackle guys. It’s so hard to not snooze your alarm when it first goes off. But you need to have sheer determination to get yourself out of bed at the first ring of the alarm. Another thing is to not start scrolling through your phone – leave that for when you’re having your breakfast. Checking your phone is one of the biggest time wasters in the morning, you tell me how it always ends up being half an hour hour when you thought it was only 10 minutes?

Have something to look forward to to help motivate you out of bed

The one thing I always look forward to in the morning which gets me out of bed is the variety of Lush shower gels I have to choose from when I have my shower. A bit sad I know – but hey it works for me. Also – showering in the morning is the best thing ever if you want to feel awake straight away. Trust me, I’m like a whole new person after my shower. You could try having an exciting breakfast, a new skincare product or some makeup to use, a new outfit .. it doesn’t have to be major. Just something to make you that little bit more excited to get your ass out of bed. 

Make time for your breakfast

 

I’m gonna go ahead and say the most cheesiest line that you know couldn’t be avoided in a post like this – but breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So take the time out to sit down and have something you enjoy. Also – help save some work in the morning by prepping stuff the night before. I was obsessed with overnight oats, however since being pregnant I’ve COMPLETELY gone off them! So I always tend to have some toast with fruit in the morning. Other good ideas that you could prepare the night before is some chopped fruit that you could then add yoghurt to in the morning, get some fruit/veg together to blitz up a smoothie, or even bake some of those fancy breakfast muffins the night before. I’m considering doing a whole post on breakfast foods if you guys fancy that – holla at me. Also use THIS time to sit and catch up on your phone – this is when I tend to have a scroll through my Instagram.

Prepare for your morning

Last but not least – get as prepared as possible the night before. Things like going to sleep in a tidy room, having your outfit sorted/ironed the night before, preparing your bag and having your lunch ready will all help make it easier to wake up in the morning and get going. You know all those morning tasks are done and you can just focus on getting ready, having some food and getting on with your day.

There you have it – some ideas that hopefully will make even the biggest night owls consider giving mornings a go. Hey, they’re not all that bad, and I can say from personal experience that I get SO much done in the morning, and also feel so prepared to tackle the harder tasks first thing too. My days are more productive and I feel like I’ve already accomplished things before I’ve even left the house.

Have The Best Morning Ever – Summer Edition

Hiya lovelies!

Hope you are doing VERY well! APOLOGIES that it seems like absolutely AGES since I have put up a post.. even though it has only been 4 days. Pah. That is A LOT in the blogging world guys.. trust me. As I mentioned in my previous post, I am fasting for this month due to Ramadan, and as I am sure you can imagine this can be quite exhausting, especially as these are some of the longest days! I love this month though.. if you are Muslim you will know that there is just something so peaceful and special about Ramadan. Anyways… what I am trying to say is that you will probably only see 1 post and 1 video a week JUST FOR THIS MONTH! Then.. I will be BACK ON IT GUYS! Oh.. hold on .. I am then going on HOLIDAY straight after.. muaha! I am not sure if I am going to schedule posts then.. but I will definitely let you know!

ANYWAYS… Lets get onto the post. Now.. you all know that I am 100% a morning person… I LOVE mornings so so much! For me, there is nothing better than being an early bird and up before EVERYBODY else so that I can get my day started. I may sound like a complete alien saying this.. but I DO NOT like sleeping in at all… no matter how many hours of sleep I have had.. you will not catch me still sleeping later than 9am! I know.. am I even human.. ha!

SO… I wanted to give my fellow morning people (and also those of you who are not the biggest fans of mornings) some tips on how you can have the best morning EVER .. and how you can make mornings that little less of a nightmare! AND… as we are also in Summer now (ahem… weather aside)… it had to of course me summer themed right?

How To: Have The Best Morning

Clean Your Room The Night Before

Whether you are a morning person or not.. one of the worst things that you can wake up to is a messy room. It means you can’t find the things that you need, you create an even BIGGER mess when looking for things.. it is just a vicious circle! SO… give your room a quick tidy the night before… I don’t mean you have to go all out and change the bedsheets/dust around/hoover.. nope.. just TIDY. Put things away, hang clothes back in your wardrobe, find all those odd socks lying around on your floor, bin your used cotton pads… and see how stress-free your morning is with a clean room!

Get Enough Sleep

Nothing will make you feel more refreshed than having a good nights sleep. Now guys.. I am still getting used to this.. I am usually in bed for after midnight and up again at 6am. I know.. NOT the best hours of sleep ey? For some reason.. I am still able to wake up feeling refreshed in the morning! BUT… 7-8 hours of decent sleep is usually enough … and I am sure we all know that TOO MUCH sleep just makes you feel rubbish too!

Wake Up Gradually

Now… I find this helps me SO much .. I like to set an alarm a few minutes before I am actually due to wake up for the morning.. as it makes it that little less daunting. Also.. with it being Summer… it is usually light outside around 4:30-5am.. so this will definitely help you wake up better! ALSO.. draw your curtains and crack open a window as soon as you are up… the light and fresh air will make you feel SO much more awake and ready for the day! This is a definite in Summer.. cannot say it is the best thing to do during Winter though (ha!).

Shower In The Morning

Trust me… showering in the mornings is one of the BEST things you can do to really wake you up and feel ready for the day! Also… for Summer time, when we have those AWFUL humid, sweaty nights where your duvet just seems to be on FIRE .. a shower is definitely a must in the mornings. It might be that you have to drag yourself out of bed and literally crawl to the shower.. but the second you are in.. you will be SO happy that you did! Seriously… try it and let me know how amazing it makes you feel! DEFINITELY one of the best starts to the day!

Use Products That Make You Feel Happy

Now.. how could this be a post on my blog without adding in a little bit of beauty ey? I know how it can be in the mornings.. you are way too tired and late to even put on body moisturizer, makeup, deodorant… (OK.. maybe not the last one).. but taking some time out to apply these really does make you feel that little bit more pampered and special in the morning! For me… I have been OBSESSED with The Body Shop Pina Colada range.. the scent is SO perfect for Summer and it literally makes you feel like you are on holiday when using it! Also… I find applying lighter makeup that gives your skin that beautiful, fresh faced look is PERFECT for making you feel better in the mornings. If you want.. Have Your Outfit/Bag Ready

The worst thing in the morning? Rushing around trying to find your shirt for the day.. realize it has fallen to the back of your cupboard, and then spending the next 10 minutes ironing the awful creases out of it. Nightmare right? Avoid ALL of that by getting an outfit ready the day before.. I take this a little bit too far as I plan/iron all my outfits for the week.. but I just find it helps avoid unnecessary stress in the morning! My favourite things to wear for work for Summer time is loose shirts/blouses with some nice trousers.. and having these ready the night before is SUCH a time saver! Also… make sure your bag is ready too! Nothing worse than losing your keys in the morning!

Breakfast – Don’t Avoid It

I am sorry to be so cheesy with this phrase.. but breakfast is 100% the most IMPORTANT meal… and skipping it will definitely make you feel groggy and not ready to take on what the morning throws at you! A good way to ensure you never miss breakfast is by preparing something the night before. The best thing to have? Overnight oats.. if you have not tried them.. try them! They are SO easy/quick to prepare, are good for you, and you can also be as creative as you want with them! Just layer oats, some yoghurt (whichever flavour you like!) and top with your favourite fruit (frozen berries work a TREAT)… and anything else you might want to add on! Keep in the fridge overnight.. and when you wake up you know you already have breakfast ready! I find this is such a lovely breakfast to have in the summer too!

Water & Lemon = My Morning Essential

Having a huge glass of water is an amazing way to start of your morning.. especially in summer time when drinking more water is ESSENTIAL. My way of making it the BEST drink.. add a few slices of lemon. This just adds something special to your water.. and I am so sure we have all heard about the benefits of drinking lemon water! It does SUCH an amazing job at waking your body up and also detoxifying it!

SO… they are my tips on helping you have the BEST morning ever! I really hope this helps some of you who are not a fan of mornings.. or maybe if you always seem to be rushing around! Feeling the BUZZ with Magnitone♥

Hey lovelies!!!♥

Have you all had a lovely weekend?? Hope so! I spent Saturday going into town and just picking up a few essentials really – deodorant, cotton pads, black tops… yep nothing too exciting hehe! I then took 3 blog posts’ worth of photos.. Woooo!.. and just chilled for the rest of the day! OH… I also ordered some business card for my blog… Ahhhhhh… I am literally SO excited to receive them I cant even tell you! If you read my blog/follow my Twitter, then you will know I will be going to London in 2 weeks for a bloggers event, and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give other bloggers/brands my business cards! I will DEFINITELY show you all when I have them, eeek!!♥

Right.. I am literally SO excited for this post loves!! It is featuring an item that has slowly become one of my most favourite things EVER… and it is the Magnitone BareFaced Vibrasonic Daily Facial Brush!* So… I took part in a Twitter chat run my Bloggers_Hangout and was actually lucky enough to be sent the Magnitone for reviewing (eeeeeek.. STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT). Oh gosh.. my excitement when I received the box in the post…. which by the way was packaged SO beautifully.. it was bright pink!! The Magnitone comes with:

  • the Two Mode Vibra-Sonic™  Facial Brush with a protective cap
  • a charger (which is magnetic and I literally couldn’t get over how COOL that was.. OK guys maybe I do get a little excited over small things!)
  • a plastic pouch to store it in
  • a membership card & 12 months warranty

So… lets get onto the fun part shall we? Actually USING it! I popped it on charge for a few hours, then went to the bathroom to try it! At first I used the Magnitone with my Movis soap from Lush.. I put some of the soap on my face, and then started using the Magnitone. I have since starting using Rituals Sensational Soft Cleanser in the morning, and Movis at night .. I will explain in more detail in my routines below! I love that it has a timer so you know when to swap from one part of your face to the other – although I do admit I was a little bit slow at first and had to turn it on again HA… I have since mastered it :D. All you literally have to do is just run the brush over your cheeks/chin/nose/forehead and move it in circular motions… no need to scrub hard or apply ANY sort of pressure at all! That is what this little baby is doing for you!

I am not even exaggerating when I say this lovelies.. after the first use, my skin had never looked so polished before. It was tingling slightly which I absolutely LOVED – Magnitone describes it as a workout for your skin, and that is SO TRUE. It increases micro-circulation to your face, which is what gives you that gorgeous glow! My skin also just felt so CLEAN and the brush did such a fabulous job at getting into my pores. And girlies.. this was just after the first use!!

So.. I was absolutely #FEELINGTHEBUZZ (ha!) straight away … even I was SO shocked at how quickly results showed! Let me talk you through how I use the Magnitone for my morning/evening routines.. YES I DO use it 2 times a day… it is gentle enough for you to, AND the bristles on the brush are SO soft! Trust me.. I look FORWARD to washing my face now hehe… I feel like I am at a spa when using it!

Morning Routine♥:

So… I go to work during the week so initially I thought “Oh.. I won’t have time in the mornings to use the Magnitone!”.. HOWEVER… it is now an essential in my morning routine as it just makes my skin GLOW and really makes it feel SO awake! This may sound SO weird, but I read somewhere that your skin is weighed down by gravity when you sleep making it sag slightly (eeeeek!)… I have found that after using the facial brush, my skin feels naturally “firmed” up… it sounds SO strange loves I KNOW.. but those who have used it will know! RIGHT.. let’s get onto the morning routine (FINALLY.. stop talking Saira!):

Give my face a quick splash of water

Use a 5p sized amount of Rituals Sensational Soft Cleanser, lather it up and apply to my face. Now – the reason I use this in the mornings is because it is SO gentle on my skin – Movis gives my skin quite a deep cleanse so I tend to use this at night!

Turn the Magnitone on, use it on my cheeks first, then my chin, nose and T-zone

Rinse your face well

Give the brush a good rinse once it has stopped buzzing, and leave to dry naturally

Admire how bloody amazing my skin looks (tehehe, slightly vain, but this baby does the job SO well). My skin is literally glowing, like I have had PLENTY of beauty sleep (not the usual 5 hours I get! I also completely miss out the step of toning, because my pores just feel clean anyway!

I then apply my moisturizer (which can I just say goes on SO smoothly since I have been using the Magnitone).. and eye cream!

SO.. that is my morning routine .. SEE.. it DOES NOT take much time out of your morning routine AT ALL.. and is SO easy to incorporate into your busy lives!

RIGHT LOVES… Should we see how I go about using the brush in the evening?

Evening♥:

Remove ALL my make-up using Garnier’s Micellar Water – STILL my go to make-up remover.. NOTHING removes makeup off my face as AMAZINGLY and gently as this micellar water!

Lather up some Movis on my face, and get to work with the Magnitone! BY THE WAY… I find the Magnitone does not lather up the wash you use on your skin.. I don’t know if this is maybe because the washes I use do not lather up much anyway, or if this is just the way it works! Whichever it is.. I don’t mind because my skin is always left feeling SO clean!

Rinse your face well

I charge my Magnitone during the night.. so it comes with me to my room for charging, all set to use the next morning!

Moisturize my skin and apply eye cream (like in the morning!)

AND THERE WE HAVE IT! How I use my Magnitone. I also know it is waterproof, so for those of you who like to wash your face in the shower.. YOU ARE IN LUCK!

Right angels – should we see my overall review of the Magnitone?♥

Magnitone claims you will notice results straight away .. HELL YES DO YOU NOTICE THEM! I was HOOKED from the first go! It also states that some people may break out after the first few times of using the brush, as the skin is thoroughly cleansed each time .. I have not noticed this so far (fingers crossed!).. in fact I notice my skin is smoother and does not have those irritating small spots on my face! It definitely does its job at waking you up and making your skin feel SO energized and just GLOWING. I use it twice everyday, and not once has my skin felt sore or dried out.. the brush is SO gentle. I have combination skin, so my cheeks are normal, but I get quite an oily T-zone… I have found that since using the Magnitone, the pores on my nose/forehead have been minimized SO much.. they are almost invisible girlies! Also.. because my skin is left SO polished each morning, putting on my foundation is an absolute BREEZE … it just applies SO smoothly!

The only thing I WISH the Magnitone came with was an additional brush – they recommend you change them every 3 months – but I have had a look online and you can pick up 2 replacement brushes for ONLY £16 – so that is AMAZING!

I honestly do not know where I would be without my Magnitone.. it has made SUCH a massive difference to how my skin looks and feels. When I mentioned I would be reviewing it.. Morning Routine… & My Everyday Makeup!♥

Hi my angels!

Hope you have all had a fantastic week so far …. I have to admit – mine has not been the best! It’s been quite stressful .. you know one day everything is great, and then the next day BOOM .. so many things go wrong.. yep it’s been one of those weeks. BUT I am never one to dwell on things and let them stress me out/upset me .. so let’s not focus on that ey lovelies!

I thought I would do a beauty/lifestyle-ish post today! And it is my morning routine (wooo!). Now, this is my routine during the week – my weekend routine is slightly different – maybe that will be another post soon (hehe!). I also thought I would talk about my everyday makeup routine too .. it is very basic and quick – I need something like this as I like to get as much sleep as possible! I also am one to shower on a night as if I don’t, I have to wake up at 6AM because my hair takes SO long to wash AND dry..I may wear a scarf but I would NEVER leave the house with wet hair.. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS COLD!

So my darlings … let’s follow my morning routine!

6:40AM – My DREADED alarm goes off. I snooze it 😛

6:43AM – Another alarm goes off – now I feel as though I can wake up – for some reason those 3 minutes that I get to sleep in make ALL the difference to me *very sarcastic tone* ha! I put on a huge hoody and fuzzy slippers as I am always SO cold when I wake up (boo!)

6:45AM – I go to the bathroom (Surely no additional details needed here). I brush my teeth and wash my face – my GO TO face soap is Movis by Lush, it is AMAZING and I featured it in an earlier post of mine HERE if you want more information on it. IT SMELLS LIKE BISCUITS GUYS!

6:55AM – I am done in the bathroom – and then head back to the bedroom to start on my make-up! I firstly moisturize my face, then grab my make-up bag, sit on the floor in front of my mirror and get started! Oh also guys – bear in mind I do my make-up everyday in very dim lighting, as my husband is always still sleeping whilst I get ready so I don’t turn the main light on (I ALWAYS make sure I check everything in the bathroom mirror before I leave, JUST in case I am too pink one day :P).

7:00AM – Time to get started on my make-up! Read below for my routine and the products I use 😛

Firstly, foundation! I use Estee Lauder Double Wear in Ivory Beige – I never bother with primer (at least for during the week) – this foundation has amazing lasting power anyway and still looks amazing even after I finish work! I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush to apply my foundation. I also spray my brush with the Botanics Rose Spritz before I use it … it helps my foundation go on smoothly.. give it a go loves!

Next I use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder with my Kabuki Brush from No7, and buff it onto my face. This powder is AMAZING and does not look cakey at all! I am sure you have all tried and loved this powder – It is a must have!

For some reason, instead of finishing my face make-up, I move onto eyes (not sure why – weird habits I suppose). I use the Collection 2000 24hour Extreme Liner (I think that is the correct name!) and line the top of my lid.. I don’t actually do winged liner during the week! Then I apply mascara – at the moment my favourite is Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Volume Mascara.. It makes your eyelashes look AMAZING!

Once my eyes are done – I move onto the rest of my face! I use the ELF Blusher Brush to apply blush to the apples of my cheeks (lots of ‘ushes’ there guys.. haha!) – and of course I use my trusty Barry M palette (which was featured in my November faves HERE) I also use the highlighter in this palette for the tops of my cheek and down the bridge of my nose :). You will also notice Rimmel’s 107 lipstick in my picture – I skip this step during work days, but it is a STAPLE for my weekend make-up!

I then use the Boots Botanics Rose Spritz on my face, which I feel just gives my makeup a gorgeous, healthy glow! I then use some Nivea lip balm .. and that’s my make-up done! And the best part .. It only takes me 10-15 minutes everyday WOOP!

7:10-7:15AM– Now I get dressed! I usually have my outfits ironed and ready for the week (talk about being organised!) – So I get dressed, then put on my hijab! My outfits for work usually are black dresses/black trousers with smart tops/midi skirts with shirts and cardigans…. Workwear OOTD’s anyone? All together, this probably takes me around 10 minutes (maybe 15 if I am having a bad hijab day – they are the worst!)

7:25AM – I make my way downstairs to make breakfast for me and hubby! As it has gotten colder, we both have toast with Nutella every morning! I also just make sure I have all my snacks/lunch ready for work (I take a lot of food to work guys!).

7:35AM – I then head back upstairs, make sure hubby’s clothes for work are out/do that last minute check of my face I spoke about earlier/apply my perfume. I ALWAYS put my perfume on just as I am about to leave .. anyone else do this?

7:40AM – I head back downstairs, check my phone for a few minutes, then am out the door!

7:45AM – I then make my way to the car – make sure my heated seats are on, put my music on as loud as acceptable that early in the morning.. and drive to work!

8:10-8:15AM – I normally get to work around this time – I then head inside, and get on with whatever work/emails/meetings I have for the day! AND that is my morning routine lovelies WOOP WOOP!

So I hope you liked this little insight into my morning guys .. I would love to read your morning routines too! I find them so interesting (I think it is because I am nosy muaha!). Anyway… UPDATE TIME YAY! I was honestly so glad to just sit down for an hour or so to write up this post today .. It really is a way for me to de-stress and just take some time out for a while! I also am working on a festive post which WILL be up some sometime this week.. and also a very special post for some of my fave blogging babes! NOT TO MENTION AN OUTFIT POST .. I feel like it has been a while since I put one up. I also will be working on a VERY exciting blog post this weekend.. keep your eyes peeled for that one loves!

I honestly just wish I had more time in the day! There are SO many posts I want to write… I am feeling very inspired by so many bloggers/brands! So my angels..
